Not at all, I don’t mind Rotherham and hope they stay up. I just firmly believe they have only themselves to blame
Odd. I just can’t find the thread that showed the lavish praise for Wednesday when they deservedly turned us over. I’ll keep looking.
The main point is being missed. Wendy are Massive. . Rotherham and us are not. Poor relation of SY. I'd much prefer them to stay up than Wendy and Derby. Fair play to em. They've played us off the park twice. Over 90 minutes. (fact. ok they missed their chances. How many times did we do that last season to teams) . Wendy haven't. Did I want us to win yesterday.? Absolutely..we weren't guaranteed owt till today. None of this share the points crap.
If you choose to dislike every club who have ‘some’ fans who don’t like Barnsley then the result is you start to hate everyone. It makes no sense in an adult world. Sometimes we have to be the bigger man and realise that there’s an idiot element at every club. And choose not to engage with that idiotic element, or treat all the others as if they’re idiotic. Christ knows I’ve met some Barnsley fans I’m ashamed to be associated with. And if I treated all Barnsley fans with the contempt those idiots deserve, I’d have to give up on the club.
Really! I thought the line on this thread was more about being ‘a gracious winner’ or ‘recognising we were outplayed’ (battered some thought). Or not ‘crowing over their misfortune’. All eminently reasonable views. They just look a bit less reasonable when they are applied to Rotherham and withheld from ‘teams like Wednesday or Millwall’. Each to their own.
I have friends who support Rotherham. I felt very sorry for them after yesterday. Not because i wanted to patronise them, but because they should have won and that has happened to us so many times. I prefer the term “honesty”.
I'd have used the analogy on any team that outplayed us. For me. luton at home and Rotherham twice. The only ones to have turned us over in 90 mins. We were on the wrong end of a big scoreline at home against Bournemouth. But not outplayed in my view to the extent of the score. Do you believe wendy outplayed us. If so. Fine. I didn't but would be gracious to admit if I thought so. Not patronising as the op posted. Just honest opinions. You are right. my main point was irrelevant to the thread. But I stand by the statement.
Like I said they're local rivals. I have the utmost respect for Fulham, Fleetwood, Accrington, Burton Albion, Ipswich, Oxford and various other fans I've had the pleasure of meeting but when you've been pissed on and had bricks thrown at you, respect tends to go out of the window.
I didn't watch live as we were in Stratford meeting family we've not seen for a year but I watched the extended highlights and if that was representative of the game then I would have no hesitation in praising the Rotherham team and management. To paraphrase Douglas Adams, "so long and thanks for missing all the goals".
I think that's the thing, we can relate so well to what Rotherham endured on Saturday because we've been on the wrong end of so many of those games in the past at this level. I didn't see it at all as patronising, more like 'we know how you feel.'
