Best post I’ve seen on this topic. Too many folk thinking the club just blindly flew him over without thinking….. it’s not that straight forward these days. For a short term fix, his history shows he’s an impact manager. But after 12 months or so, it seems to wear off. It’s pretty much what we wanted for the final games. It’s only the fans who think it was a long term appointment……
Didn't it say he's responsible for 'all footballing matters'.. That's why I said if Duff did say he'd come back but would want overall control then he ain't coming.. So my guess would be that we are keeping this new backroom system and we're waiting for the MK Dons coach.
This makes perfect sense. However there is also the topic of responsibility and accountability. I would expect the DOF to be accountable for the appointment, irrespective of who is in the loop to perform the admin. That doesn’t mean I’m blaming him here and in fact it’s hard to chalk this as a failure against him for not hiring here. In fact we may never know if a manager is eligible unless we go through the process. But due diligence would be required giving a level of likelihood. This I would think would be an indicator if we should continue to work on plan B hard or soft. I don’t know the reality but if we couldn’t appoint to Plan A before the semi’s it makes sense to take more time to get it right after the playoffs. By taking time I would hope the objective is to get someone in, fully ready and prepared, staffed up in their coaching team before players return and in order to start the rebuild in a timely manner. This will all be the first big test for our DOF unless of course the role is like the head coach, limited in scope.
