Out of curiosity, who would people have given MOTM to yesterday?

    Anderson?

I still can't make out what he gives to the team, he's not a defensive midfielder, he don't create anything and he can't shoot.
There must be something I'm missing?

    Anderson - very clearly ....

His passes, apart from one which went out of play, all reached a red shirt and some of them, guided by instep, or out-step, were quality passes which took opposition players out of the picture. His first touch made him look a class apart and gave him more time on the ball. Some of his close control and tricking past defenders was first class. He played and stayed in his best position, centre midfield and pulled the strings as far as others were on his wave-length.

Others who performed above average - Macken - good first touch and kept possession fairly well. Foster and Moore at the back - np real fault with them and good header by Foster at the end, which nearly went in.

Other than that - the problem is still the midfield and it is STILL in a mess. The players just don't seem on the same wave-length as each other, especially when compared with some of Coventry's slick passing moves, which they had obviously practised on the training-ground. If Halfreddson is, as looks likely, a wide midfielder, as opposed to a winger, we should play JCR as an out-and-out winger. If we are trying to morph him into a goalscoring midfielder in the hole to replace Brian Howard, it is a waste both of our time and of his talent. I thought Butterfield showed his inexperience yesterday, although at least he did try a shot, which went wide.

The stark fact is that we had just TWO shots on target in 90 minutes, according to my reckoning - one by Odejayi and one at the end, which I thought was Foster. True we should have had a penalty, but we were two down by then.

Bring in Andy Gray! Let's hope that Emil is a world-beater and not an egg-beater. Keep the faith!

    Boggy

He put himself about and looked like the only one who cared. With better service he might just have got a breakthrough.

RE: When did KO have a shot? nt

He scuffed one across the turf and Westwood fielded it. It hardly looked like a shot, so probably didn't count.

    RE: Boggy

Agree with u red rag. Boggy probably was best player and should have stayed on for a bit longer! I thought Macken played well aswell actually

I dont think any of them deserved champagne for Saturday but if i had to pick one it would have been Anderson.

    Hugo Colace

If he'd been playing - a midfielder that breaks the opposition play up and gets a foot in. We were wide open through midfield on Saturday. Colace needed back urgently.

    Anderson to be dropped then?

Cos I don't think they work together.

    Butterfield

Although on Saturday ADS and Butterfield were as ineffective as each other.

Butterfield needs to get stronger before he can compete for a season in this league - nice touches and short passing alone won't cut it.

ADS was appalling on Saturday but he has the quality to stand out. Needs Colace to come in and sit that bit deeper.

If not Colace then we have to hope this Icelandic chap will fill that void.

    The only worry is...

that neither ADS or Colace add anything going forward. At least Butterfield got a shot in, albeit off target on Saturday.

We will see cos it can't be long now for Colace to be fit. I'm with SM on him at the moment.

    But also need...

one of those two in the centre to at least gamble into the box now and again, like Howard used to.
