No, Tony Blair proved its possible to offer a vision and hope of a better future

The fact that he had no substance whatsoever meant he didn't deliver.

I think this government have a lot to be blamed for.

There is nothing wrong with hard work & success. I'm self employed myself & doing alright. The cut in corporation tax would benefit me personally,
but you have to look at the country as a whole. A lot more can be done up & down the country to build social housing & improve workers rights.
The government is printing money like crazy & has been for years. This money could have gone into housing & the NHS, but has gone to the banks.

Do you want on 'okay bloke' or do you want a leader? . Also I cant see what all the fuss is over the term he used ' smashing her back on her heels' referring to Teresa May . Some people seem offended by this but I'm pretty sure Teresa May wasn't .

A good point well made . Money has gone into social housing and the NHS just not enough . But also the NHS needs to get its own house in order with regards to efficiency and wastage . Unfortunately the very economy of the country is governed by the banks, therefore there was no choice but to bail them out . Bearing in mind both Labour and the Tories have done this .

Propaganda!! This country is far from bankrupt, it's just that 95% of the population never see any of it. The country is clearly run by a public school cartel that ensures that the wealth stays within it's reach. It's not a crime to be successful although it should be to exploit other people for your own gain. On the capitalist team photo you can line up between Mike Ashton and Philip Green. I don't know Corbyn, because I've never heard any of his policies, perhaps they are filtered out by the establishment press? All I've heard is that he is a friend to Isis and he wants to open the borders and give the country away. Odd that I didn't know Owen Smith before, but now I know his policies.

What worries me about Owen Smith is that he was once a lobbyist for Pfizer. How any Labour leader with such a background can claim to be committed to Socialist values and the protection of the NHS as a truly public entity I do not know. Not that Smith does claim this, but that's what I want to see from a Labour leader, and that's what Corbyn could offer.

But then I really worry about Jeremy as a leader. He won't ever even win the backing of the liberal press who have been happy to flag up the internal party wranglings since day one, in turn undermining him.

It's such a tricky one. I want a Labour government with Corbyn's values, but I can't see an election victory if the party continues as it is. If Corbyn does win this leadership contest though, the dissenters either have to back the will of the membership or step down. But their careerist, egotistical preoccupations will mean they cling on to their Westminster residence allowance for dear life.

There was a choice. Guarantee the accounts, let them corrupt banks go and setup new ones.

The last analysis I saw showed that the NHS was one of the most efficient healthcare systems in the world. It's not perfect but what of human construct is?

Owen Smith is being advised by ex-Blair spin doctors John McTernan and Lance Price. Two turds I'd never wish anyone on.

    Wow !!!
    Tony Blair didn't deliver ???
You need to look at the history books - and not just listen to the media assassination of him because of Iraq war.
That's the same Iraq war that most of parliament supported and most of the country supported At THAT TIME.

How much of what he did has withstood the Tory onslaught? Sure Starts, gone, NHS, privatised, Schools, privatised.

NMW about only thing hanging on and even that has become less effective.

Style over substance or rather the ends justify the means has enabled NHS and education privatisation.

It's not about that at all. As an example, this new Duke of Westminster avoids enough tax every year to bail out the NHS - over £3bn. This type of government-sponsored tax avoidance needs to stop.

If the Duke of Westminster has illegally avoided paying the correct amount of tax he should be made to pay . I'm not convinced it's his job to 'bail out'the NHS though .

You're right whilst clearly morally wrong avoiding tax is not illegal. Our government should make it so. It's easy. No messing about on any level just like you and me you have a certain amount of money you pay a percentage of that as tax making all avoidance schemes illegal. I'm self employed. My accountant suggests all sorts of loopholes I have to tell him I want to pay what I owe. He looks at me like I'm crackers. That's not right.

Not sure whether you are agreeing with me or not . Surely its the job of revenue and customs to collect the correct amount of tax from all of us . I applaud Jimmy cricket in his honesty but if my accountant can legally save me a few quid then I'm an happy bunny .
