This incarnation has had about 3 seasons running the show and were hamstrung by the actions of the previous leaders in the ownership group. In those three seasons where the current owners are actually running the job, we’ve made the play off final and the play off semi final and then lost our first game. I think the current incarnation of our ownership is actually doing pretty well. And posting like this is clearly reactionary nonsense based upon the first 20 minutes of a season. Which is obviously stupid.
But thats where your wrong, its not simply a knee jerk reaction, based on tonights disappointing first game. If you read what some fans are posting (whether you disagree with it or not), you will see that these feelings have been building up for a few years now. Its just that some maybe don't express their feelings as well as others, and it can come across very poorly and childish at times.
Behave yourself. They’ve brought in experience, they’ve backed the new manager with an expanded coaching team he wanted; they’ve tried to bring in players before the season started but we operate at a lower level than a lot. The players we can realistically sign might not be available yet. It’s the nature of the beast for a league one club with maybe a top eight or ten budget. We’ve just brought in a goalkeeper that commanded an eight figure transfer fee. He might be crap but you can’t accuse them of lacking any ambition. We need forwards. At least one - probably two, and definitely if Jalo goes. Behind that though, a back four with Gent at left back and Lofthouse at right back, Roberts and Pines with Mael, Earl and lopata as backup; the big lad from Chelsea in goal, a midfield made from four of Phillips, Connell, Craig, Russell, Hourihane, potentially O’Keeffe and big baz (you couldn’t play them at right back in a four surely?) - Wolfe and Benson if they’re ever fit - that really isn’t too bad. Much better than most at the level. The problem is up front we have a number nine who’s a walking free kick conceder, a second striker who did ok tonight but misses chance after chance and looks shorn of all confidence, and the only back up was a kid from the academy who sadly we know isn’t good enough - then a Portuguese kid who’s done little in men’s football to prove he’ll be effective, and is currently unfit. That’s the issue. It’ll be addressed.
Agree with alot of this post apart from the midfield, that midfield would terrify me playing as a 4, not 1 player in that lot could play effectively as a wide player and beat a full back, we've kind of knackered ourselves recruitment wise with all our eggs in 1 basket for 352.
No surprise in where the likes are coming from for this post. Politely, it's not just "your" club it's OUR club and, to be honest, given the responses to your thoughts, it seems YOU are the problem.
Go on then, why is it fair to be calling for these owners to get out? After one game of a new season, in fact it was after about half an hour of a new season.
Should have been addressed from start of season, we've had 3 months to sort this, so when he says he had enough of the owners I get his point because the lack of preparation each season is quite frankly not good enough.
