It's one of the reasons why English football (as opposed to Premier League clubs stuffed full of foreigners) is dying on its feet. The obsession with 'tracking back' at the expense of virtually everything else is one of the reasons why so-called 'world class' players such as Rooney and Lampard look so ordinary when they parade their 'skills' on the world stage. If World Cups were won on sweat we'd win every time.

    So does McCourt

They bring different strengths to the team. A team of McCourts wouldn't win a game. But neither would a team of Perkins'.

    As Jay said

Some folk wouldn't recognise talent if it walked up to them and kicked them in the b0ll0cks. Billy Ronson would be regarded as a real talent these days. Whereas Ronnie Glavin would be regarded as a fat waste of space, who doesn't track back or win tackles.

Re: He's the most skilful, creative player we've had since Hignett

He didn't play well in the second half. Neither did anyone else. But as I haven't criticised anyone else since I got back from the match, except Kennedy's set pieces and that was directed at the management team for instructing him to take them all, I don't see why I should be expected to criticise McCourt, particularly as he was our most creative player on the day. Not criticising someone isn't being blinkered, it's just not something I generally do. I don't feel the need to have a go at individual players and very rarely do it.

I'm not winding BigLil up at all Rothred.

I really don't agree with what hes saying. Some will agree which they have, some don't agree like BigLil and Barnsley66

He already said that Glavin was not that good! Else he would have left Bransley and played in the top flight !!

Re: When was the last time

Its fairly simple really Perkins is our best run around a lot midfielder and McCourt is our best attacking midfielder the rest are crap and that is why Flicker is out of work.

Re: When was the last time

Technically brilliant. In his opening games he was a much needed bit of flair that we needed in our team. He walked through the opposition like they weren't even there.

More recently, he seems to turn on the ball two or three times until he's knocked off the ball by the opposition, or he passes it into empty space. Now I'm not saying I expect him to run the length of the field, like Rooney would do, but his lack of work rate can hurt us as much as his moments of magic can help us. In a better team he'd be a different player.

Fair enough mate, I wasn't trying to cause an argument or having a pop at you specifically. I just thought he was particularly poor in that second half.

I wonder how much longer he'll be around now with Flitcroft gone.

Wasn't looking for an argument either mate, just explaining myself.

I hope he's here for a long time as I can't even begin to imagine how poor we'd be without him.

When you think back to Wilsons era he loved attacking players ie Bullock Marcelle Bosancic and Hendrie, i would love to see what he could do with McCourt.

Me too mate. I can't remember any of them getting many tackles in, but I could have watched them all day.
