Shame really as Bess hasn't done too bad at all for Yorkshire but England just seem to have discarded him.
Strange that they have discarded Bess, and also discarded Parkinson off the back of 14 overs on a pitch that offered nothing to the spinners. Could also have given Callum Parkinson a chance.
You’ve got to sip it constantly with the tea bag tag hanging out. I see Leach got 3 more … did he bowl well ?
From what I saw yes. Bowled consistently and waited for the batter mistake in the main, the ball to Rizwan was a good nut.
I'm not sure this "Baz Ball" is sustainable. Sure when it comes off, then it's spectacular - last week was amazing. But that was poor from Jacks - albeit he'll be under instructions. It's like picking 9 attackers and trying to win every game 8-3. It'll come off once in a while, but you need the basics down too.
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather this than the turgid stuff that we endured under the back end of the Silverwood/Root regime. But there's surely a balance to be had.
I don't think he will. It's unfortunate but it's very much like the Thorpe/ Petersen situation in 2005. You go with the up and coming player. I don't think it's the end for Bairstow but he's probably waiting for someone else to fail.
No Pietersen at his best was great. At his worst he was awful. Brook plays cricketing shots first and foremost. He's the best I've seen.
