Apparently there is nothing wrong with it, it keeps the council workers employed fixing the houses up. It is all part of the wealthy creating jobs, trickle down economics at work !
I don't have an issue with those who are in genuine need of help. If we could sort out the lazy and those who simply choose benefits as a life style choice I'd be happy with the money saved going to help those who really need it.
To me they are quite happy with the situation we have at the minute. If they weren't I'm sure something would be getting done about it. Still all change in May
They've done a fair bit to sort out the burgeoning benefits system through the welfare cap. Like I said I just wish they could do more to target those who are fleecing the system.
Its the only thing the Tories have in their armour to divide and rule. I'm not so confident of them being out of govt in some form or another tbh. The centre left vote is too divided IMO which is great news for the nasty party.
The welfare bill is still as high as when they came in.less money is paid out to SOME individuals fair enough but more are now claiming because of cuts in other p!aces and Lowe wages. Still the Tories will have a solution by cutting benefits to the disabled etc but the Tory landlords will still get theirs its in the contract
Can't see it mate tbh.labour is the only party to be able to form an alternative govt but won't have a big enough majority without our Scottish MPs.
Correct so bring it on. Miliband is weak and needs propping up. I get the feeling we Scots will be running the show.
Sturgeon has already gone on record as saying she would prefer Cameron as it strengthens the SNP to have a hate figure in govt. A labour/SNP alliance wouldn't last two minutes as demands from the SNP would make it impossible for labour to hold the South East. So not looking too good for the centre left unfortunately. Its as split as the Tories on Europe imo Edit i meant Cameron in govt as opposed to an alliance with snp
It is gonna be very very interesting how it all pans out. I'm really only looking forward to an SNP whitewash in Scotland and to see what any Government handles us in Westminster.
The SNP will get some concessions from the Tories IMO probably dressed up as a SNP victory as a strong SNP = a week labour opposition which benefits the Tories massively. But as you say labours fault for being too complacent with the working class vote.there will be great rallying cries from both parties IMO but unfortunately for us and more importantly the NHS all to no avail.
How about the £11 BILLION subsidy the supermarkets receive in the form of in work benefits for their poorly paid staff?!
Housing Benefit got out of hand when we flogged off all our social housing and failed to replenish housing stock. Thank god we have learned our lessons and are guarding our last remaining social housing stock not thinking of flogging it off cheap in an attempt to gain votes.
You'll get no argument from me over the abysmal minimum wage or zero hour contracts. Both are scandalous.
exactly, social housing was sold off and the housing crisis we have now can be traced directly back to this. This traversty carried on under labour and will carry on in the next parliament no matter who gets in. i had loads of mates braggin how their council houses cost them next to fa,i wonder who they blame now that their kids cant afford a roof over their heads.
