Three out of four

I missed school because I wanted to go to an FA cup replay at Oakwell. Honest!

So if you didn't use an excuse, why did you ask me to provide one, then?

That's unfair and unworthy of you.

    Misunderstanding

That WAS my excuse! as a joke, I said to the teacher "I can't come to school tomorrow, I want to go to the cup replay at Oakwell" fully expecting to be told in no uncertain terms to come to school "or else".

I was amazed when the teacher (can't remember his name, but it was at Holgate) said something along the lines of "Well I suppose these are exceptional circumstances, so go on then".

Went down to the match the next day, saw one or two other school mates, but who else was standing there on the old kop? The teacher of course!

    RE: Don't mention the war

I once made a reference to the manufacturers of the lift in our hotel whilst at a business lunch in the heart of nationalist Bavaria. In hindsight I suppose the use of the phrase"Schindler's Lift" was slightly ill-advised.

I wish I'd had a teacher and parents like that

I had to wait until Look North gave out the final score that evening.

We also got excused by Holgate

... to go to the rearranged cup match at Southampton (when we won 2-1). It was on a Monday night. Think we left school at lunchtime. Not sure how we wangled that.

    So you're happy

Because you can surf for nubile young ladies & Laura's happy because she can now chat to her male fan club undisturbed. :D

When we got humiliated 1-4 by Bristol City under P****n he scored in front of the ponty end and was gesturing to us all even though he had not been given a single word of abuse.

Redstar would have been on the pitch and had him if he wasn't 17 stone

One of them is coming to our house

    This afternoon, to see Laura.
I mean a young lad, not one of those nubile, young ladies.
