    It did include all that ... but it was a long time ago. Anyway, now I've seen Windy's diagram, I wonder why i bothered - sums it up nicely! :D

    Population of north east was 2,515,500 in 2001.

    Up here people in North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Northumberland, County Durham and further afield are drawn to teams like Newcastle. Sunderland support is mainly around Sunderland, Gateshead, South Tyneside and County Durham. Then there are smaller clubs like Hartlepool and Darlington that don't attract much support beyond their towns.

    It's not really comparable at all, there are a lot less clubs than in Yorkshire and the population isn't spread in similar ways.
