Re: Can't argue with any of that You are right. In times of greatest need supporters should srand by the club. Like they did during admin. Because the teams essentially picked from whoever turned up with a pairaof boots had a go. Gave it their all. They eere hungry for their next contract. They refused to rest on their laurels coasting through games. Now the club has a squad full of loanees and short term contracts. Majority of which end in four weeks. There aee countless players this season whove turned up and looked disinterested. The football is devoid of any passion barring a few isolated moments within a game. I refuse to pay upwards of 300 quid next season to sit and die of boredom.
Before I lose the will to live i will compress this long thread into a more concise version. Patience with Johnson will relegate the club and cost the club a significant amount of money when renewal time comes.
Re: Can't argue with any of that Thing is it's not just the 'true' supporters the club needs, its the ones who have a choice of working instead, the ones prepared to make long journeys in **** weather fickle ones, the ones who make their mind up on the day, the ones who really could do with spending their money on something else but could be tempted , kids who nag their parents to take them etc etc, as well . That's just not going to happen while we are stuck rock bottom playing sideways , backwards **** booooring football. Now patience is a good thing but what has LJ ever shown since he has been here? (and before), he has had a very mediocre managerial career and the Oldham fans where he had a modicum of success said the football was boring even then
Good luck, just have to look at the vultures slating the flipping YOUTH team in the other thread for conceding against an EX ENGLAND INTERNATIONAL. Absolutely bonkers, nobody will get any patience here. People act like this is the first sack the manager hissy fit but every manager we've had since probably Ritchie people have been going mad to sack. Nobody will be good enough, ever, unless we end up at the top of the premier league.
No hissy fits from folk just the reality that we are bottom, we have a truly crap manager and were gunna be in League 2 next season. Since ritchie managers have been sacked cause they were ***** and lost the plot. This one is the worse yet he is surviving but why? Cause sacking isn't the answer any more and PC is trying to save face after making a silly statement. So that makes it all ok!!! Madness of the highest order folks
Re: Can't argue with any of that I've actually attended on and off since I first went to Oakwell in 1968. I ceased to attend a season or two after Danny was let go the first time (which was allowed to happen after ST renewal deadline). I went sporadically after that, but not regularly again until the era of Andy Ritchie and the 2008 Cup run. Had a ST since, except the season Keith Hill was appointed. I couldn't live with destroying what Robins was building, and going cheap with Hill. That policy has been disastrous for us. I relented though in Keefy's second season, and have been a ST holder since. League 2 would be a no-no for me, and I don't think survival would keep me on board until there are clear signs that we are adopting a more progressive policy and are properly investing in the team. But I've never professed to have no interest in whether the club succeeds or fails - I'll still have that interest whether I attend or not. But PC has £32M to prop his toy up with. I've about 99.99% less than that! And I'm frustrated that most of our problems are to a greater or lesser extent self-inflicted. I'm a customer - not a "true supporter" - but I'm a very interested one and will continue to be so, whether I'm a paying customer or not.
no point blaming just johnson and no point blaming the fcukin fans either, the people who run the show need to take some of the flack..especially as they have sacked better managers than the one we have now. as for hunters mix of youth players, every club in the country was the same, they all used players from their youth squads. As jimmy cricket rightly points out, times have changed and theres too much money around now, especially for the premiership elite teams so its easier to buy their squads in.
It's official, Red Rain takes over Jay as worlds longest poster! Johnson, ****, relegation, less fans, less money. Surely I now take the crown as worlds shortest poster. Sent from mi bloody iPhone
Trying to explain patience to the BBS is like Einstein trying to explain General Relativity to Waldorf and Stadtler.
I think you are showing your age, we now live in a world of instant gratification, get it today and worry about paying for it another day. Your old fashioned idea of being patient and working hard to achieve or obtain something you desire, doesn't feature so highly on the credit card, x factor generations.
Patience is not the key to success anymore, bfc philosophy going forward has been clearly defined in signing young cheap players with a possible resale value and backing them up with cheap loans. This means when any player becomes any good we will sell him and then have to start all over again in rebuilding. The only way this method can work is if we have a base of solid players of varying experience and that are good enough that will not be sold and form a team that can compete, then we can afford to sell the odd player to bring in a few quid without dismantling the team. We can't have a team full of young players who know the only reason they are here is so they can be sold on or loan players who are here for game time so they can get back in to their own team , this breeds no loyalty or commitment or gives us any solid basis for us to go forward. No manager can make this work, change the plan Ben and PC or we are truly fooked Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using Tapatalk
Managers nowadays don't want a few of their own players when they take over, they want a squad full of them. Agents want their players moving from club to club to rake in the dough. Longevity at clubs is a thing of the past with fewer and fewer lasting the distance after having to put up with changing managers and owners. The impatience has been shown by boards and fans alike, but at the end of the day its the boards that make the decisions and not the fans.
