But we get more people through the gates than most. Our income is higher than most. We haven't bought anyone, we're not allowed to spend more than 60% on wages, we sold Holgate, why haven't we got any money left?

By some of the logic on here the SCMP only applies to us...and we clearly can't be getting good value from our by definition bigger budget given we have 3 times the crowds/income.

Unless other clubs are charging far more or their owners are pumping far more in...

By my reckoning that police bill and academy eat the largest chunk of our gate money (ABOVE 500k). Add to that the running cost of the stadium which is expensive since we open every stand, rent etc you can start to see why the accounts for last year will probably show PC put in to the tune of millions. Chuck in jennings and cranies wages as far as last season goes.

Who played a part in the recruitment of the players mentioned ?

As well as the recruitment of the numerous duds we keep appointing as managers, sorry Head Coaches.

Who is accountable for these decisions?

The supporters who pay their hard earned cash?

Seem to remember an accountant who has kept a close eye on the BFC books since Patrick came telling me he estimated somewhere in the region of 15 million quid.
THat was probably 3 or 4 seasons ago. He's certainly not stopped in those last 3 or 4 years.
I think Manlitos right its just the same as any one of us chucking in a few hundred quid having been "conned".

But this year we haven't got Jennings and Cranie. We've got the youngest and most inexperienced squad in the division. You'd think the youngest and most inexperienced squad would command the smallest wages. If it doesn't, why the hell are we paying them so much? And whose fault is that? I accept that our police bill and our academy status will mean we have to pay out more than most. However, our income is significantly higher than most. I can't find average attendances for this season, but last season our average was 5th in the division. We get double the attendance figures of about half the division. Twice as much money! Yet all those teams can afford better and more experienced players than us, most without a financial benefactor. And now we hear that if Mr Cryne leaves we can't even afford the next wage payment, despite working under rules that should prevent that happening. I can't work it out.

As much as we admire Patrick Cryne - I would rather see Patrick leave the club than Lee Johnson.

But I would expect Patrick Cryne to finish the job he set out to do - and that's move the club on to someone or an organisation that is able to take Barnsley Football Club to the next stage.

Patrick Cryne needs to do what Patrick Cryne does best - and that's jumping on planes to sell his company to a good buyer - this time its Barnsley Football Club as opposed to iSoft

He did it for iSoft - we need him to do it for us now.

But attendances aren't the full story are they? Many of those clubs have rich benefactors who put large amounts of money in OR they successfully trade players and bridge the gap that way (Rochdale). I think the later is the strategy we are trying to adopt in order to be less reliant on a benefactor. It's a long term plan though.

Some have. Many? Last season in his interview with Radio Sheffield, when Ben Mansford was bragging about our financial clout and using it to justify sacking our manager, he said that in terms of input from a benefactor we were top 6 in the division (on top of being top 6 in all other areas of income). We sold Holgate in the summer, we've sold John Stones, we've sold everyone who has ever been any good, we're told time and again how good the marketing department are doing with sponsorship, but now we've got nowt? We've got a team full of kids, we're top 6 in all the income charts, but we've got no money? I really don't understand how we've managed to get ourselves in that position.

Listen to this. February this year. 50 seconds in:
3rd or 4th highest cash equity injections from a benefactor

It's right there in that interview, we're a big team in this division, loadsamoney, so the manager has to go. 9 months on we've got no money?

You. The person from the supporters society who has just spoken to the club. 52 minutes ago: "Assuming you get your wish and Patrick walks away in a month. Who pays the wages at the end of January? That's administration right? Careful what you wish for."

I shouldn't post this late at night. I was really talking about our current reliance on Patrick's support rather than any definite knowledge that we couldn't make it until January. I was meaning having reserves in place for some unexpected event.

So you've got me all worked up over nowt? I'm shaking my fist at the screen. You owe me a pint next time I see you.

Apologies for badgering you at this time of night. I do appreciate the feedback you give us from the club. Bit less emotive language next time maybe? Administration indeed. Not that I can ******* talk.

Dunt sweat it. If that's the biggest tit you ever make of yourself on here you've got away with it a lot lighter than the majority of us. I beat that on a daily basis. Now go to bed.

    Well that made me chuckle.

Seriously though they are the same points I'm wondering.

I can understand the reliance up to last year with PC. But I can't believe it from this season. But we won't be able to confirm this until the accounts come out next year or someone actually tells us.

    Anyway. Good morning

Another point re SCMP and our wage bill is that I understand wages for u21s aren't included in the sums, how many of our squad is that? We must be paying some silly wages to some 22/23 year olds who've never played above this level.

No one can work hard enough to gain the wealth Cryne did in such a short time. Sale of shares which attracted the attention of the authorities hardly constitutes hard work does it. Earnest Saunders springs to mind.

Cryne said he wouldn't call the loans back in until the Club reached the Premiership. He hasn't really given the Club anything.
