I really don't care about his fame - read my posts about Dickie Bird and you'll see that, I honestly don't care that he chooses to support Spurs (his words), what I don't like is the **** he talks about the club and fan related topics. The only time he is a fan is for playoff finals and FA cup semis.
he was always a spurs fan and he did fake or try to fake his own demise, he was chairman and co founder of the dreaded afc Barnsley, with a guy who wanted to makesure that if anything happened to B.F.C. like the ground was sold and developed there was still a club in existence with the name Barnsley, ( like level the lot put a bowling alley there and the rest shops business premisses and flats, then it still remains a sporting venue as per tivvys covenant) also the council became involve with helping to buy part of the ground because if oakwell was re developed as a mini meadowhell then it really scuppered b.m.b.c. plans for the redevelopement of the town centre, of course this is only pure guess work on my behalf and in no way goes to disprove the pile of bo11ox and rubbish that certain people were saying was the truth.......................... afc stand on bfc land, and the moron believed that afc sold the stand for £8000 back to the club when afc folded............................ by the way afc used all of B.F.C's facilities, including coaching staff, allegedly
Listen to Talksport - he says time after time that his number one team is Barnsley, always has been always will be. He has a soft spot for Spurs (his 2nd club) because he loved the way Glen Hoddle played when he was a nipper, Hoddle was his hero so Spurs were his top flight club. Since he moved to Milton Keynes he's started watching them because they're local but if MK or Spurs ever play Barnsley, he wants Barnsley to win. He has commitments and lives 150 miles away but manages to watch Barnsley a couple of times a season. Not heard him give anything but praise for Barnsley so I really don't know where you're coming from.
I got dogs abuse off certain people on here that's why I stopped coming on, thing was the people would'nt tell me me to my face. afc packed in because the job it was put in place to do was done, but was told IF it could be run self sufficiently then it could stay at oakwell and blossom ( fitting in around bfc of course). people on here thought they knew the truth but didn't so did the "well a kid told me or I heard in a boozer"and started making crap up. the academy manager was the chairman, they played at oakwell, the used all and I mean all the facilities, pat cryne, pete ridsdale, and steve Houghton used to come and watch when they were playing at dot hymans before pete doyle sold bfc., Ronnie branston used to ask if he could come in for nothing at oakwell so he could watch certain players, ex academy players that later got re-signed ..................... you tell me ! not ******* rocket science is it ?
Thats the first and only explanation i have ever heard. When asked at the time peope on here would say they weren't allowed to say and stuff like that that. It was made out to be a real sinister ending lol
I have listened to him and I've heard him praise Sheffield United, Leeds United and others saying he was a fan of Yorkshire football. I understand he has work and commitments but so do others on here who live further away than he does and they still manage to make games. I get that he is probably best described as a part time fan but then as soon as he gets the chance he's in the dressing room with the players. I've nothing against him, I just dont think he can be described as a Barnsley fan which was my point.
the Ronnie branston thing was a joke between me and him as I was comitteeman, kitman, gateman, sometime physio and general factotum at afc
