Hayes Has 5 league goals- he'll get todays goal since Watt has said it was Hayes and I immediately thought it was Hayes at the game. Nardiello has been sh*t alot more times than Hayes this season and has played less.
BUT You're right about Nardiello not getting a chance, but thats down to his own poor injury record more than anything else. I just don't quite understand why he's been picked on over all the other shocking performers today. Certainly wasn't him that decided not to mark Barker for the first goal. Like I keep saying, he was sh*te, so were nearly everyone else on the pitch.
My statement referred to the 'hard work and graft' comment... which is what you need, in my opinion, to get out of this league.
Its alright Danny being stood up front for 90 minutes, doing nothing for 89 minutes, and then scoring in the other. What about the other 89 minutes, when the ball is played to him, and he can't be bothered? The opposition take the ball away, and start there own attack.
Do you want to sit at Oakwell under pressure because Danny can't be bothered for 89 minutes and then see him score? Or do you want to see the someone try there damned hardest for 90 minutes to help Barnsley Football Club succeed? I aint doubting Nardiello's talent, far from it, he is a totally different 'type' of player to Hayes, however for me, its not what we need to get out of this league.
I just think comparing Hayes to Regis is a bit much...

Today Jay, today! What about every other week? What about last week at Bradford? Would you have got the same out of any other striker at the club?

Never seen Nardiello play as bad as Hayes played today I've seen him have poor games, sure, but there is one thing you can be certain of, if Nardiello has a poor game he'll be instantly dropped, if Hayes has 5 poor games in a row he'll still get in the team. There's something wrong with that. Not Hayes' fault like, but it doesn't give out very good signals. Nardiello becomes demotivated, while Hayes gets the impression he can just turn up and be assured of his place. I'm fully prepared to believe Hayes just had an off day today, but we all know for certain he'll be playing again next week and the week after. Nardiello has never been given that luxury.
I was just commenting on today's performance For the sake of the club, the fans and Hayes himself I'm hoping it was just an off day.
Nardiello at Scunthorpe Atrocious while Hayes was hard-working, creative and scored. I've seen Nardiello have some absolute shockers. But you're right, when he's in form he should stay in.
RE: Mike sheron the 2nd At least Sheron could work the line and drag defenders out of position to create space for others.
On the other hand Nardiello was out injured and brought back for the Oldham game. He scored, assisted, and generally looked everything a striker should. He was great. Next match, home to Blackpool. Nardiello is not too great. He's not the only one, it was a poor team performance. But who is left out ofr the next game? Nardiello. It's the LDV game and we're absolutely shocking, apart from Nardiello who is brought on near the end, lights the game up and scores a goal. So, is he brought back into the side? A guy that has scored 2 goals in the last 3 games? Is he chuff, he hasn't started a game since.
RE: My statement referred to the 'hard work and graft' comment... I think that if Nardiello got the same opportunities to start he would score the most goals. Its a team game, some graft, some have flair and some score goals. My view on Nardiello is that he was badly treated by Hart and is confidence suffered. He has not had the same opportunities as others. With the right management he would come up with the goods and he would lose that idle tag. Cue abuse
