RE: Pavorotti........and to say we had some nutjack saying Elvis was the best singer ever

Totally agree , Pav was the finest Tenor singer of all time ,better than Crusoe, ,De Steffano, and his friend Domingo. Take heart you people who have seen and heard this great singer, you are priveledged , because you have seen and heard the greatest singer that ever lived., your grandchildren would not have been so lucky. :)

My Opinion is that you haven't a clue about Pavarotti'e genius

But you have excused yourself in your posting, by saying it is 'my opinion'

    Pavarotti was a genius.

I was lucky enough to hear him sing 'live ' twice.

Once at the Sheffield Arena and once in Hyde Park

His voice sent shivers up your spine.

The thing is, that all the great Tenors in their latter year, broadened out to the popular market where they gained even more fans.

Domingo was perhaps the most successful in this area with Carreras not far behind.

Pavarotti, tended not to 'downgrade' as such but when the 'Three Tenors' sang, he was happy to appeal to more ppulist tastes.

I'll never forget him singing in the Arena.

He truly had the voice of an angel. It was sublime and I still get shivers thinking about it.

He only performed for an hour and truth to say, I never heard him at his peak, but at the latter end of his career.

What must he have been like at the beginning of his career?

I think the Arena concert was one of his last major venues before he went into semi retirement

An awesome man and a truly awesome voice and persona with an inimatable charisma.

He will be very much missed..

Sorry but I just never got it

whatever it was that was so great (dunno) (dunno) (dunno)

But it takes all kinds to make the world go round.
It would be a a shitty world if everyone liked the same stuff.

Glad to see so much diversification on here .
