Didn't think it was a penalty but didn't have that great a view of it. Still, given the number of dodgy ones against us and blatant ones not given for us, I'm not complaining. Thought the ref was poor and inconsistent all match.
It was inline with where I sit I had as good a view as any. You don't have to be behind the goal to see things clearly. Why take things so literally?
I sit in the ponty so couldn't comment but watched fls this morning and the keeper took his leg......... nailed on
Didn't question the decision at the time, but I was miles away at the back of the Ponty, so couldn't tell. Just seen the highlights and although I can't be sure if the keeper touches Hourihane, it does look like he caught him. After reading this thread I thought the dive would be obvious, but it's not. I'm not sure the ref got it wrong.
On the "highlights" it looks a cast iron pen to me no doubt. At the time I didn't clearly see anything. Thought the ref had a very good game.
If you pause it frame by frame then you can see he misses the ball and takes his legs. Might have gone down a bit soft but who wouldn't.
Having seen it on the tele it looked less of a dive I think it depends the angle you were at. From ESU definitely looked like he dived but the tv pics don't show that angle.
I thought it was a penalty yesterday at the match, after the best move in the game leading up to it, and after seeing it again I still think it was a penalty.
Re: "Never a pen in a million years" - kudos After seeing the highlights on Youtube, I think that the referee made the correct decision by awarding a penalty kick. Or maybe Conor Hourihane is just really good at diving, but I doubt that he was doing that in this case. Good win for us and very important three points. It's still not too late for a playoff push, hopefully the new signings (and the old ones too!) are up for it.
Interesting the different views. From where I sit in the West it never looked like a dive but I thought the keeper got to the ball first before Hourihane. Having seen the replay I have to correct my earlier post keeper was too late and took out Hourihane definite pen and wonder why the ref didn't give a red
I appologise, my View at back of ponty looked like Keeper got the ball, and Hourihane just went down. But after seeing replays it was a definite pen
Wasn't at the game - spent the afternoon with 100's of cheerleaders - having seen the replay it was a nailed on pen - keeper performed on a sliding tackle and caught him . Pen but he was going away from goal so no sending off - would have been a harsh red
