For a long time i've been trying to understand roundabouts, seems i'm just going round in circles.

Bit worrying tho is the very narrow gap between the lights coming up dodworth Rd going red and the lights coming on broadway going green..often can't go at green cos of traffic still coming from town...this also happens at the Bush/co-op junction with traffic coming up racecommon Rd and getting out from back of park...

I think the official definition of that is “drivers going through red lights”.

I prefer "lights regularly out of sync"

    Yes,
(see my message #17) - time lapse between lights changing very 'tight.'

it had a huge amount of opposition. would be interesting to canvass views in another 12 months, see if people still feel that way. personally no view either way as I don't live there. it does feel generally quicker to get through whenever I'm passing that way, but I don't live there.

It's excellent and very slick if you traverse it at 6 am. Can't speak for rush hour. But the main arterial into town (Dod'eth Road) remains single carriageway and therefore attracts queues in both directions at busy times.

Use it everyday, it doesn't work.

I thought it did, but it opened in the school holidays, soon as schools returned the queues back down Dodworth Rd were back to normal. I think it's improved entry into town on a morning from the M1 though.

The problem heading to the M1 is outside Horizon, it needs a yellow box there to stop the traffic coming round blocking Dodworth Rd.

Same thing at Stairfoot roundabout. There needs to be yellow box junctions at both the Wombwell Lane exit and Grange Lane exit. These continually get blocked and cause traffic to back up Ardsley Hill and from town. People say that drivers would still ignore them but even if only 50% comply it would improve the situation.

I think you’re right, I started queuing at the chip shop at the bottom of dodworth rd before Christmas. I never did that before the gyratory system.

Well now it appears to be get in whatever lane you like and exit whenever the hell you feel like it, indicators somewhere between optional or used to misdirect other road users.
The amount of people I see going all the way around roundabouts in the outside lane is astonishing.

I don’t live there anymore but I was initially opposed to it. However, I think that but for the “last minute lane changers” it’s not bad at all. I’d go on to say that the kids playground looks alot better than when I used to take my kids there and the landscaping is pretty good.

17 mins to get from the end of Shaw Lane yesterday to the M1 at 7.30am, it's absolute ***** - what a waste of money.

It’s ok coming the other way from the M1. I’ve noticed recently when coming down Dodworth Rd around 4.45 that the traffic queue coming up seems to get longer every day.

Yes, no problems the other way - I notice that on my way home.
