So he was the messiah after all ! He had to go, Lost the plot and the players he recruited proved today that they have no class or bottle. They should have been busting a gut but instead gave up the ghost. The 300 odd fans who went should all be reimbursed by the players giving up their wages. Its a sad state of affairs but getting rid of Wilson was the correct decision.
Correct I'm sure were all bothered but thank goodness for other things in life such as Happiness and Good Health. After all its only about kicking a bag of air about !
L The players he signed gave up the ghost? You mean nyatanga and craine. The worst two numpties according to all that went? The two highest paid players? Those two that he recruited? Oh that's right. He didn't sign them. The ones he signed are from lower leagues. Because that's all he could recruit. Bored now.
It's weird I'm bothered in some ways in others not so much. On some levels I've always know football's just a daft game 22 blokes kicking a ball round but in the past I've felt a link with my team, a sense of being part of something bigger than myself, a local patriotism, a form of love I suppose for my team. I guess being honest with myself this has been waning for a long time now and the events of this week have speeded up this process. I guess I've fallen out of love with my team. It's not quite Hate Football Hate Barnsley. It's more Hate Football and there is nothing else. Of course I want us to be successful in the same way I want Paul Weller's next album to be good but not in the way I care about the Jam or even the Style Council. Maybe a bit of distance will change things I had a ticket today didn't go and didn't miss it. I can see only a bleak future for us at the moment.
Can't say I'm too bothered about the Style Council, and I am becoming a bit desensitised to the plight of the Reds. I really never thought that I'd fall out of love/interest with BFC, but I've had the first pangs this week. After around 17-18 years I sacked Sky Sports this week, annoyed with the latest deal that shoves two fingers up at the wider game, but sacking the Reds is a much bigger decision. But I am just struggling to see how I identify with them any more. We actually played well today for the first half, without really looking like scoring (apart from Conor's shot that had us prematuringly celebrating), but then we went to pieces. It's just getting boring after 8 or 9 years of watching this ****. Apart from Flicker's crazy few months we can probably count the good performances over the past 8 years without having to take our shoes and socks off. Maybe I'll sit and work it out, but surely we have the worst record in the league if you add up all the games over the past 8 years. I've often wished that I didn't care, and it's starting to happen.
The Club tried to tug on all your heart strings with Wilson , it was an absolutely ridiculous appointment. Every manager gets the sack at some point and this totally over the top reaction from some fans was always going to happen. They could have given him 3 years but because it was Wilson you'd have said he should have had 4 years. Worst week in my memory , glorious Danny years , for Gods sake get a grip man. He's a football manager who's got the sack , hes not died.
I actually went through the Style Council the other day on my A-Z, although I only have a greatest hits compilation. Couple of crackers, particularly his Motown pastiches, but a load of meh. Finished the week on the Super Furries. The end is almost in sight!
Saw Gruff Rhys at some weird festival in the Brecon Beacons last year did a campfire set of Furries songs after his proper set. Very good. The singles are mainly meh I agree. man of Great Promise and a few other non singles very good.
