Dirty Coat Man. Wears a white coat well when I say white it is absolutely gopping black. Grim.

    Admiral

    Jeff

The Blackpool boufe. Doesn't sit near us but has the best slick boufe you've ever seen on a man. Once saw him licking their lasses face too.

First saw him at Bloomfield Road so hence the name.

    Definitely, old buddy

Any artefact which has been excavated and removed from it's context without being appropriately recorded immediately loses it's intrinsic value to an archaeologist.

    Re: Ref Man

Know him well. We've always called him "Ref Hater". We used to sit by Gangway 3 a bit further down so we felt the full force of his fury almost every game. So, just imagine what happened during the "Gary Willard" game v Liverpool! To be fair, though, he wasn't on his own that day. I remember he was even on MOTD that night...... "ït's a conspiracy!!!!"

The guy behind me just moans the whole game through about absolutely everything. The other week when Golbourne made his home debut, he got down the wing and overhit a cross and the bloke shouted "Tha's s**t, tha' duz that every time". I think he'd only touched the ball twice in a Barnsley shirt.

Funnily enough, I ended up sitting in front of him at QPR away on the opening day last season, and right at the death when we were 4-0 down, Hassell or someone punted the ball way over Andy Gray and this idiot started shouting about how a better striker would've taken it down and had a pop at goal. Must've been 6ft above Grays head. He's always worth a giggle, that fella. The fan, I mean, not Andy Gray.

    In the 80's

there was a bloke stood near us in the corner of Ponty/West Stand and after an abject display from Tony Cunningham he shouted out "Tha's like 14 stone of black pudding!". He'd be banned for life now I suppose.

Also I remember a few years ago in the Ponty, a female member of the security staff was answering one of the phones in a metal box at pitch side when a voice rang out "Deal love, deal!". It made me laugh anyway.

    Re: In the 80's

In front of us we've got Alex Ferguson face and his silly bold mate who's in his 40's and he still thinks its funny to throw the ball away when a opposition players runs over to take a throw in. Behind us we sometimes have the 'Nancy boys' who turn up in vests, **** stopper jeans and ninja pumps regardless of the weather. Last season they complained throughout the Burnley game on Boxing day of having cold feet, not 1 of them had a pair of socks on, when they don't turn up we have the 'swingers' 2 middle aged couple who know **** all about football. Further back we have 'Andy Gray painter and decorator' who the moment he see's Gray step off the bench to warm up he goes absolute mental, he complaing as nearly got him into a couple of scrapes with fans around him. Also Mrs Nardiello who would have done anything to defend him during his time at the club even when he was ****. Also In recent weeks a new steward as arrived who stands on the stairs of gangway 1 and is the double of Fabio Cappello.

Re: I sit next to Jay, who posts on here, in the Ponty End

I have a few nicknames from down the years:

    1. A bloke who sits on the front row of East Stand upper (close to the Ponty End). He wears skinny jeans (not suitable for a man of his age) and I think he works on the market. We call him ref hater because he loses it with every ref we've ever had, or the linesman. I once saw him smash his phone to pieces on the steps in anger and then proceed to blame the linesman for causing it by giving a dodgy decision. The guy is clearly mental.

    2. In the Ponty I sit in front of a bloke who hates Luke Steele. According to him he's the worst player to have ever played for Barnsley. He favourite lines are "WE'RE IN RED STEEEEELLLLLEEE!" and "that was a lucky save". For this reason, he's called "STEEEEEEELLLE". He also hates Andy Gray. Most people around him just laugh to be honest, with the odd one telling him to shut his pie hole.

When I used to sit on the East Stand upper tier (about 3 rows from the front) I once had an unbelievable experience. We were attacking down the right (towards the Ponty) and whoever the winger was put a teasing cross across the 6 yard box. As this happened, I found myself with my head between my legs - pinned to my seat. Some bloke from about 3 rows back had done a diving header at seeing the cross and landed on my back! I'm sure plenty of people have sub-consciously tried to kick the ball into the net from their seat, but a diving header?
