That's what often goes unsaid. If you play a day early one week it's one less day to prepare for that game, but one extra to prepare for the next.

Professional football is namby pamby boll0x.

So because it’s pep and his pampered boys logic is discounted. Cool.

In isolation that makes sense, however in the context of the rest of the competition and earlier rounds it can’t make sense.
Imagine earlier rounds where there are much more teams still in the FA & Europe and having to rearrange fixtures to suit. Also if Liverpool had beaten MUtd then then there would have been no advantage.

In short they know the risks at start of the season, that’s why they have such big squads.

You won't be saying that when England get knocked out of the Euros cos their best players are all fatigued. I can tell you now Stones & Walker are running on empty, even though theyve been rested and out injured, Grealish and Foden probably same and tbf same for Saka and Rice, but they're paid well so get on with it eh?

He was making the point to Gary Lineker on the BBC. The BBC had first choice of matches for their timeslot and chose City v Chelsea. They could of course have chosen the other match, but the choice was made by TV broadcasters, whose money City are very happy to take.

To be fair, Lineker did say "We (the BBC) are probably to blame, snigger, snigger)"
