Re: 3 subs after 45 minutes

If he wants to play Perkins, he should've dropped Doyle.

    Ah well. Live and learn.

Aye, but we are supposed to be picking players on form.

I agree like. Perkins should be in for Doyle or awaiting his turn

Re: Got to disagree there a touch

What Davies offered when he was out wide was another player in the box for O'Brien's crosses. He constantly made the right runs in to the box, which meant the defence spent most of the first half looking where he was rather than attacking us. This ultimately resulted in our first goal: O'Brien's cross to the far post, Davies knocks it back and Butterfield puts it in. Would that have happened with Perkins on the pitch? Would the fullback be that bothered about heading up the pitch and leaving Perkins on his own compared to how he would feel about leaving Davies on his own?

I wouldn't argue that Davies had a great game, but it was an attacking system that caused Burnley problems. What we've put out today gives Cardiff nothing to think about.

Tuesdays line up also allowed us to easily move to a 4-4-2 formation like we did in the second half. Today's selection allowed for very little fluidity, other than half the team camped out in midfield.

Maybe I'm wrong, but today's game has been a disaster.

You're not wrong at all Jay

Just hope that Hill learns as much with a defeat of this type as wins as he has intimated he would before.

Not going to argue it's been a disaster today, but I don't think changing one player should have had such a negative effect - that's just wrong if we want to be a consistent championship side.

Perkins wouldn't have offered the player in the box on Tuesday, but having a midfielder play there would have taking the threat away from that side of the pitch. We had to put Davies on the right wing after 25 minutes because we were getting exposed, and once we did that he offered absolutely zero as an attacking force. Maybe Hill thought we couldn't risk that today against a much, much better side?

    Pros and cons to everything

We're doing much better with our attackers on the field

    5-3 now.

If only we'd had the guts to go with that from the start....

That's false evidence though mate. Mentality of a team 5-1 up is to naturally switch off.

I'm not saying your wrong in all this, but I can understand after Tuesday why Hill wanted to make things more compact.
