    That's pretty much the point isn't it. He was going home but asked the taxi to go to hotel when he received a message that his mate had 'got a bird'. He got the key to the room under false pretences. He didn't knock on the door or announce his presence, he let himself in. She was naked on the bed, he'd never even met her before never mind talked to her. Then he ****** her. How is that a progression of the situation?

    slightly off topic - as Evans was guilty of rape then why weren't Macdonald and the receptionist also charged with that rape under the joint enterprise law?

    Because they couldn't didn't know (or couldn't have reasonably been expected to have foreseen) that Evans was going to rape her.

    He could have shown remorse for the way he treated the lass and the effect its had on her life, whether it was rape or not (and the judge and jury that had more facts than us said it was) the only person he seems remotely sorry for is his girlfriend and primarily for himself

    I think that's pretty much it to be honest.

    If it was the average man they'd probably really struggle for work & have to do cash in hand jobs or jobs that no one else wants to do.

    I know Ched will be on significantly reduced money but it'll still be better than 95% of people and if he performs well at Oldham then I'm sure his next contract will be similar to what he earned before

    Your neighbour asks you for a lift to the bank - when he get there he robs the bank - you would be charged under the joint enterprise law despite you claiming to not know his intentions- goo-gle joiny enterprise - you'll be amazed!

    That just can't be true. For something like that to stick there would need to be an element of mens rea.

    If you gave him a lift to the bank and he was wearing a stripey jumper, a balaclava and carrying a bag with "SWAG" written on it then you would probably be in trouble.

    He wasn't found guilty of having sex with a drunken woman. He was found guilty of RAPING a drunken woman. Do you know the difference between consent and rape?

    Got to say - I'm fully in agreement with Tarn Tyke on this one.

    Definitely seen worse things done at parties.

    And.........rich footballers, fit lads, women constantly throwing themselves at them...........its all part of being a professional footballer..............no wonder he dosent apologise

    This Evans thing has become a nation wide, jump on the band wagon, frenzied witch hunt..........its got to stop

    If this women is so drunk that she didn't know what she was doing then the wrong person got locked up

    With regard to incidents like this - there would be no bad men................if there wasn't bad women
    And vice versa

    If you talk to women, and they talk frankly and openly, which they seldom do with men, then us men haven't a chance

    Two comments:-

    The jury found him guilty and the evidence seems to clearly support that case. No need to debate if he did a crime or not he has. Also the appeal was lost

    Second point that worries me most. If he didn't see this as a crime, then logic states he would willingly repeat what he did again as he doesn't see it as a crime or wrong. Therefore he cant show remorse nor rehabilitate, leaving a risk to society.

    Seems like peoples morals here vary massively.

    The key word here is 'consent'.............and he believes that she consented......so how and why should he apologise for something that he believes is not wrong?

    No one is advocating that rape is not a sin and he would probably agree with that.
    But like I said earlier.............rich footballers, fit lads.........its only natural that woman are throwing them selves at these guys.
    If one of these girls turns around and then says 'but I was drunk when I had sex with him'..........whose fault is that?
    In my opinion - its the womens fault for letting herself get into such a stupid position
    Im sure if she was sober and she had said NO.........then nothing would have happened and we wouldn't have heard anything about this incident
