The wages they're on they'd probably have booked their own plane the moment anybody suggested they set foot on a coach.

After last nights 3-0 defeat at Cardiff there were a lot of knee jerk reactions.

On reflection it obviously wasn't a great performance and I don't think anybody really covered themselves with any credit at all but.... We aren't going to win every game, no football team can do that. Let's learn from the mistakes and move on.

Valerien Ismael landed in the country on Saturday 24th October. Since then we've had 4 games of football. Valerien, the coaching staff and the players must have had at best 4 or 5 days training together. In that time we've gained 7 points. We had 4 regular first team players out last night due to the schedule and we've got another game in 3 days time.

We need to let VI bed in, let him have the time to get the players used to the new system(s) and let the players recover from injury imho. This will be better achieved during the international break when they've got 2 weeks off from playing games.

Watford is 160 miles from Barnsley and takes 2 hrs 40 minutes on the sat nav. There are also about 6 service areas on the M1 the could have stopped at for a break.

Although it’s disappointing to lose, I’m not too bothered about that. I didn’t expect much given the circumstances. The lads worked hard as well which is at least something.

What concerned me though was the manner in which we lost. Firstly, we had hardly any power of physicality in the team. Cardiff didn’t bully us they were just too strong and powerful. We looked like kids playing against blokes.

To make matters worse, we added the lack of power with a total lack of technical ability. We couldn’t pass to a fellow Barnsley player all night so resorted to lumping it forward. That just suggest players were shirking responsibility to try and play.

Cardiff knee we’d want to press high but also knew they could easily get on top by being direct. Their tactics worked a treat. Don’t be surprised if a lot of other teams to exactly the same thing so we need to find a way of competing in games like that.

I 'm not feeling too down about it, I never felt we'd win. We need to get something at Derby though, ae beed to beat the sides around us.

Obvious we would lose once the line up was put out. Think we will end up on the wrong end of a few results like last night whilst ever we can’t match teams with a big physical presence. We will probably do well in games when teams allow us to play and not battle.

There were two issues last night for me. Arguably the most disappointing was the pass success rate. There were far too many misplaced passes. Secondly bearing in mind the possession stats were 50/50 we looked more tired in the final 10-15 minutes than Cardiff. Maybe that was a result of giving the ball away cheaply and having to work hard to win it back.
