    I don't see the point

in having a registration that has to be distorted to look like something interesting as it is illegal to have a registration where the letters do not conform to standard accepted fonts, or font sizes, or the positioning of the letters is not standard.

As it is on display, obviously, you may as well stick a sign in the window saying "Hey, copper, give me a ticket! you To55er!"

When you get done for it, you can also have the right to the registration taken away, thereby throwing the money paid for it straight down the pan.

Had Fox 1 through to Fox 6 at one time. They were always getting pestered to sell even in the 1970s. Carried most of them through changes to british steel, united Engineering steels, but they all went eventually, Fox 1 & 2 might still be owned but Im not sure.

Had 1st pick of the plates 'THE 1' & 'THE 2', as way back then, 'HE' was the mark which meant the car was registered in Barnsley. So they would have got them for peanuts. ('AT' used to be Hull's, can't remember others at mo.)

They're both worth circa £70-90k each at least, at Auction you could double this if the right person was there. By a Reg company offering £35k for it (as mentioned earlier) you can grasp that they'll double the price of it for sale, and make a killing. It is however, very rare that local authorities sell these plates, so don't hold ya breath.

Oh, and a final point - never buy a Private plate from a private reg company - always use the DVLA's own website. At the end of the day, they have the right to each new number, other companies simply add their fees on. For example, when I bought mine 5 years ago, the DVLA wanted £250 all-in. 'New-Reg' wanted £500 + transfer charges.

A tip for anyone considering a personalised reg

You may be able to save money by just getting a normal registration and then changing your name to fit the letters!

The letters on my reg are VNZ so I'm changing my name to Vernon Norris Zebedee!

    Pesonalized registrations for about £7.50

When I moved over here I had to re-register my car. I was asked whether I wanted a special number. I asked for my initials and age, and the guy apologised and said it would cost extra. I asked how much and he said 10 Euros (about £7.50). after I stopped laughing I said yes and drove away with a personalised number for £7.50
