Connell missed his last one at Wigan, he was never going to take one?

 

When I saw Connell and Nwakale starting together, I did wonder how that would go. Connell and Craig don’t suit each other, so playing him with another defensive mid was a bit hopeful

 

How does Connell get the blame for our regular penalty taker missing?

 

Not sure I'd class Nwakali as a defensive midfielder, he's certainly a more positive player than Craig.

 

I thought Luca has done ok in the last couple of games. After seeing his penalties against Wigan and Mallorca in the friendly, I’m not upset he hasn’t taken one.

Phillips needs a goal. He often doesn't offer loads apart from his goal scoring so needs to return to that. A couple of goals this week coming up would do nicely.

 

He is getting blamed for being the captain and not stepping up to help the team.

Instead we relied on someone who the other night scored his first ever goal for us in nearly fifty games, to keep us in the shootout.

 

I think Adam had a good game today. Yes he missed the pen, but it wasn't the worst miss I've seen!

 

They will both be sold on January 31st when we’re mid table with little hope of a play off finish & dwindling crowds.

 

You can’t give Connell hammer for not taking a penalty unless you know he’s asked not to take one.

For all you know he’s put his name forward & not been selected.

What makes you think he didn’t put his hand up to take one?

The regular, first choice penalty taker missed.

Earl did too - he can strike a ball.

It’s a bit of a stretch to suggest he went into hiding. For all we know he could have been on penalty six.

 

I’m pretty sure Phillips has put three or four chances on a plate for colleagues this last week. But yeah, let’s not pick him.

 

His ball for the chance Humphrys missed the other night, just before we went 2-1 down, was stunning.

 

I genuinely believe you would love this to happen 100 percent

 

He's the captain. He takes free kicks. He takes corners. He's probably the best 'footballer' at the club. Should have been pen 1 or pen 5 and Earl nowhere f**king near them.

 

Im indifferent. It’s happened that much over the years you grow numb to it

 

Both not Championship footballers despite the hype. Connell might be one day when he learns to contribute to the attack. But you can’t deny the impact they have as League 1 players. Be in the side every week for me.

 

Don't get why Connell is classed as a defensive midfielder? He wasn't before the Wembley miss.
