I suspect those sandy patches had a clause in their contracts. Rumour has it they've been sold to Middlesboro for their academy pitches.
The pitch looks great. Really took well so far. It was only taken fully up the other week. Great job done, by a top company Chappelow Sports Turf Ltd. They do pitches all over the country.
Oxfords old Manor Ground. Was lucky enough to have a kickaround on that pitch with the p155ed up Oxford players after they beat us on the day of the Bradford Fire. It really was more of a hill than a slope.
Looks like its been top dressed to me which can make it look bad but its done to ensure its nice and level. It may be after seeding there were a few sparse patches and a few areas that had dips so they overseed with a top dressing mix of sand and soil and loam and use a grader to level it. When the new seed comes up and the other grows back through it will look great and be all the better for it. Lawns always look for for 2-3 weeks after a scarify and top dress but will see the benefit for it once its all come back.
They’ve been re-doing the training pitches for a couple of months now. They finished the main Oakwell pitch around the 6th June (bottom picture). The growth you see in the OP is some 14 days worth of growth. That’s good going and on track. The same company also do Leeds Utd, Hull City, Sheff Weds to name a few local clubs, as well as Brighton HA and other select PL clubs. They’re regarded as one of the top Sports turf companies in the UK, and are a local family run business based in Mirfield. Not sure why folk are having a dig at them
