I used to live about 30 mins from Duxford as a kid. It was one of my favourite places to go.

I went back for a nostalgia trip about 8 years back and couldn't believe the expansion they'd gone through. Will have to get back there again some time soon.

I saw a Lancaster fly over Wombwell about 5 years ago. It appeared to be following the railway line...

There aren't any flying Wellingtons, the one you saw was a Lancaster. Would have come from RAF Coningsby.

I live in Duxford. That’s the Lancaster that I think is based in Scampton. It comes over here a lot and it’s always brilliant.

While 617 squadron was based at Scampton (where the Lanc originally came from, but never saw active service), the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is based at Coningsby (as mr badger say's)

This flew over the village of Carlton near Leeds yesterday just as England was kicking off.

    Beautiful sight and sound.

I think Coningsby’s right. I had a pint in a pub there a couple of years ago where they have a lot of Dambusters memorabilia. A couple of years ago the only other flying Lancaster came on a visit from Canada. I saw both of them together from my garden, an incredible sight. We see Spitfires every day, but the Lancaster takes your breath away.

I heard that the Alma was shut and the Sir George's Arms had been pulled down.
