Kenny Burns was a player coach under Clarke. Remember Wimbledon were kicking lumps out of David Hirst before our Kenny came on. His first tackle was head high, for which he got a thunderous round of applause.

John Deehan was player-coach, not Shotton

I remember Shotton came back to Oakwell as the manager, or maybe player-manager, of Oxford.
They were a very physical team who gave away a lot of fouls, that summed up the tough way he played.

Did Little Lee register himself as a player 'just in case' or am I imagining that?

Ah yes, good point. Was it Shotton who leathered Deehan or the other way round?! I certainly remember some comedy ruckas between them!

And Sniffer took him with him when he went to Leeds.

When Shotton returned to the club in 1994, it was as a coach. However, later on during the 1994/95 campaign, he registered as a player to help the club through a defensive injury crisis. He even managed a few games in the first team, scoring from about five miles away in a 2-0 home win over Sunderland!

It was on the team coach regards players partners not being allowed on the coach.
He questioned Deehan regards his Mrs being on the team coach.
Then the rest was history ,I know who my money was on.

Ahh yes, wasn't that a Friday night game then in season '94, and Steve Agnew was also in the Sunderland team. ;)

What are people’s thoughts on it? It seems a bit weird to me that Clarke’s come in with none of his own coaches.

It’s also a strange on when Clarke decides to leave or gets sacked as to what happens to Hourihane & Devaney. I can’t imagine there’s many successful managers who will abandon their own staff to work with two coaches imposed on them.

Clarke has history of not taking staff places with him. It was previously mentioned by Parekh that Schopp should have had the opportunity to bring someone with him and it was a regret so assuming Clarke discussed that both the club beforehand. I’m not seeing loads from Jon Stead and reading between the lines, he’ll be going I think.

Yes that’s when I mean, I remember seeing him playing because of some injury crisis, was still registered as a player but had been employed as a coach.

I suspect that won't be a problem because our next Head Coach is already in the building.
