lets not forget many of us on here were clamouring for 3 year deals after the 1 and 2 year contracts that seemed predominant under some managers
I can understand this apart from Bailey who I think is a good player, better than Pearson IMHO, but that's what the manager is payed for he decides who he wants and doesn't want, time will tell
Agree with the most of the comments here regarding the list. I personally wouldn't keep Lalkovic or Jennings. Both have proved to be unfit and inconsistent. Would have kept Oates. Put more work effort in than Lita,Hemmings and Cole combined in my opinion but I'm not the "head coach". Hope he makes it with another club though. Cranie leaving I'm happy with. Suspect he will stay in this league and play for someone like Wigan. That championship wage is now freed up and could bring in O'Sullivan potentially.
No surprises. Shame about Oates, looked lively to me whenever I saw him. Wish he'd not squared it now on Sunday, and gone for glory with his last kick in a reds shirt. Also sad to see Bailey listed, but considering we've Scowen, Berry and Digby already here and Kelly to come in, plus others potentially, I can understand it. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Nyatanga leaves too. Lots of new players to come. Another rebuild. Hopefully the new group gel a lot sooner than the last lot.
It's all about timing, if they wait until late July again to sign players we've no chance do our business first week in June and we've given ourselves a chance
As controversial as this will be, I'd rather have kept Cranie than bring in another 2 or 3 average players. This Cranie-seal is not happy
Be interesting with Cranie if it's....... 1) Released because he's simply not wanted. 2) Released because he's told us there is no point us offering him a new contract. It's not like he's been in the press saying he wants to stay like Nyatanga has. 3) Released because we don't think he will accept a wage cut so we aren't wasting time making an offer. Similar to how Stephen Foster got released.
Can't see "1" being the case. "2" is a possibility. Be interesting to see if he gets anywhere near a Championship gig next season. "3" I think is most likely and a big mistake IMO.
Nothing confirmed. Just educated speculation based on what I've heard. And I can't comment on his ability as I've hardly seen him laik.
You watch your insider information be in the Chronicle tomorrow.... "The Chronicle understands that Martin Cranie told Lee Johnson that he planned on leaving and therefore no contract offer was put to him".
I'm of the opinion we'd have retained him had he been open to accepting a salary more fitting of his current market value as a mid table L1 defender with numerous Championship relegations on his CV.
So the one decision that we all agree is strange - Oats Struggling to find a post where anyone can explain why Oats who has looked good in his cameo appearances hasnt been retained. The one that baffles me is why he was given 30 mins on Sunday - looked really good and then let go. Surely if LJ had already decided to release him there was no point playing him? Oats is the only one I am surprised at Not sure I agree with transfer listing Lalcovic and Bailey but keeping Jennings but I can see an argument for that - Oats is strange though
Bet Craines going to be ringing all those fans who he was thanking for renewing season tickets last week and now telling them to **** off.
