he can't though. he's not the same player he was 12 months ago. rose-tinted specs i'm afraid. players do change from 1 year to the next. we've had players who looked then turned out to be no improvement: Hayes and Lummy to name just 2

Marlon King at Watford is a good example

    RE: I'd target..(from relegation clubs)

Joel Porter - would be a good signings depending on his fitness. Plenty of pace and can play on the wing and up front. Replacement for Shuker?

Boyd - Im not sure whether he would suit our style of play really. Was a good goalscorer last year but im not sure about his link up play.

Michael Nelson - would be an ideal replacement for Reid if he doesn't get a new contract. Big, strong and good in the air. He also looks bloody scary!

Konstantopoulous - Do we really need another goalkeeper?

Lewington (MK Dons)- Good young fullback who likes to get forward but whether he's any better than Hecky is debatable.

Roper (Walsall)- No improvement on our current centre backs. I don't really think the defence needs much improvement anyway.

maybe one of their young wingers - Demontagnac & Taylor are both very quick and have potential but currently lack much of an end product. They'd probably cost a bit aswell seeing as though they'll be under 24.

    Si, I'm basing it on..

Us not going up and losing (potentially):

    Shuker (apparently he's off)
    Colgan
    Flinders

In which case we'd need a winger, and 2 keepers.

Lewington if Heckingbottom doesn't improve, which he needs to do.

Porter because we need strikers urgently for next season.

Just throwing ideas out really, theres only Nelson/Porter I'd really like us to go for.

Well at this current moment i doubt were seriously looking at replacements for Heckingbottom. Anyway heres a few other potential signings for the summer.

Rhys Evans: If one of the keepers did leave then he'd be a good replacement. Wouldn't be expensive from swindon either really. Though I think he might have just signed a new contract.

Ian Evett, Tommy Doherty & Lee Cook: all from QPR and are proven quality league 1 players. There also all available for transfer

JP McGovern: released by deedahs but played every game when they went up. Their fan seemed to rate him highly.

Rhys Weston: Solid Cardiff defender, doesn't seem to feature in their plans for nest season.

Ricky Lambert: 22 goals for Rochdale and most assists in league 2. Only 24 so at a good age aswell.

Grant Smith: Just been transfer listed at Bristol City but had previously kept Brian Howard out of the team at Swindon so must have good ability.

    McGovern to Doncaster..

    done deal apparently.

John Ryan says Doncaster will be unveiling a "high-profile signing" every day this week. Expected to include McGovern and Bruce Dyer.

    As for those players:

Definitely Rhys Evans, Doherty, and Evatt should be looked at. Maybe Stefan Moore too since he's being released.
