As well as Liddle going, the sale of.....

....Fjortoft also baffled me. It was as if John Hendrie had a vendetta against all the decent strikers at the club. Season starts - Ward, Hristov and Fjoroft up front with Liddle as back-up. Three months and a couple of injuries and bizarre sales later (not including Ward as we didn't have much choice there), and it's Karl Rose, Deon Burton and Don Goodman competing for the title of lowest scoring BFC forward line of all time.

Other players that maybe should have been given a fairer crack - Luke Beckett and Glynn Hurst, although it's fair to say Hurst looked mightiliy unimpressive every time I saw him.

Yeah, but I think he could have got a lot more goals if used right in Barnsley. He was a good player and had some success in the top division in Germany after he left us. He was only used in Barnsley as a lonely striker in the tough games while Hendrie played himself in the "easy" ones.

Hendrie hated Jan Aage cos he first took his place at Middlesboro then a few years later he came in and did the same at Tarn so when Hendrie became boss (a poor decision in its self) he had the power to get his own back and treated him in a shocking manner. One example that sticks in the memory is when Morgan was sent off against Bristol City (I think) after 25 minutes and he took Jan Aage off. Shocking really cos he was a passionate guy and great player, he almost help keep us in the Prem.

Speaking about all these bygone players and strikers such as Beckett, Hurst and Rose, it just makes you wonder what Chris Jackson would have become. Poor lad. Anyone heard about him lately??

Yeah but he scored 2 at Ipswich on his debut so people thought he was better than he was!

Think it was a bit more than that.
