The thing that I find more confusing than anything else, is the view from Flicker that he understands the type of football Barnsley fans want to see. He achieved that last season, and for some reason has totally changed it. This season is definitely not the type of football Barnsley fans want to see. I just don't get it. I'd love just 10 minutes of his time, to ask him sincerely, what on earth he's thinking? PS. i'm still backing him 100% and don't want him sacked...before people start jumping on board
Perfectly civil, well reasoned points and a perfectly valid question. Your response is an insult? And they're the ones acting like a 2 yr old?
This board is for opinions, but that does not mean we have to accept some of the crap posted on here. I wonder if you could do the job. We have a lot of budding managers on here. Just engage your brain, we got hammered with 5goals twice but were down to 10 men. We got hammered by Watford because on the day they were brilliant and we did not turn up. We gave Notts a game and could have had one point. We lost at Blackpool in extra time, we had a rough deal with Wisemans goal atLeicester. We lost by one goal late on at Bournemouth. We should have beat Charlton. We beat form team Huddersfield . We have had the toughest fixture start of all the clubs in the league. We still have two more in Reading and QPR. Flicker has seen the matches and has fetched players in to change things round. He is unfortunate that because of injuries he has not been able to play his best and likely team as yet. We are shortly going to be playing beatable teams, so hang fire. Some of the managers we might fetch in are Freedman, D Jones, O Driscoll, Di Canio, Weir, and Jol. They are all doing well and In some cases had a lot of money and players to no avail. Get to Reading match and get behind our football club, it is at these times it needs our support and with it we will pull through. We have played most of the teams in the top 10 of the league in our start.
Fair and reasonable post.....but I disagree with your opinion. Flicker is failing in many aspects of his role, and what makes this hard to take, is that last season, he galvanised the Club, Players and supporters. This season he has lost the plot.
So how did we pick up points against top ten sides last season? It sure as **** weren't by trying to keep it tight and grind out a point.
You're talking nonsense.. Look at the FACTS- Last season there was no one this season there will be no one, infact as I undertand it our last choice was going to be a club playing legend with no managerial experience, but dont let that keep you from your neanderthalic lust for blood-- WE MUST SACK THE MANAGER EVERY BAD RUN FORGET CONSEQUENCES.
May I refer you to the following comments:- "Some of the managers we may fetch in are Freedman, D Jones, O'Driscoll, Di Canio, Weir and Jol. They are all doing well and in some cases had a lot of money and players to no avail". What were you on about there? If that's not crap I don't know what is.
I am saying that there are managers out there struggling just as bad as Flicker. Most have had a lot more money than him and are not doing any better. One is ODriscoll who we nearly got. He has done nothing for Bristol City
We stayed up because over 46 90 mins games we got more points than Peterborough. Not just because Palace scored.
I wouldn't sack Flicker. I don't think it's anywhere near that time yet. But let's suppose we do. People are asking for a name for the next manager. Danny Wilson. I wouldn't even bother advertising the post, I'd just invite him for an interview. And it wouldn't be an interview as such, if he was at all interested I'd offer him the job. I don't care about the way he left us, I don't buy in to the idea that you should never go back, it's just superstition, I want the best manager out there and that's Danny Wilson. People often peddle the idea that Wilson hasn't been very successful since leaving us. Nothing could be further from the truth. Promotions, play-off positions, cup wins, taking a team as bad as Wednesday to a 12th place Premier League finish. How have you done since lads? He's worked for some arseholes: Bristol City fired him after finishing third and reaching the play-off final. Sheffield United fired him while in a play-off position. How you doing now lads? He's been in charge for 948 games in his managerial career winning 385, drawing 252 and losing 311. That's a win ratio of 40.61%, an average of 1.48 points per game and 68 points over a 46 game season. That's over a career, not just one good season. It's an amazing record. There's no one else out there with a record anything like that. Not that would touch us with a barge pole. He's managed in all four divisions, has taken charge of clubs who are traditionally thought of as both bigger and smaller than us, he's experienced and able and he'd be perfect for the job.
Spot on any one who thinks differently is just sadly bitter about the past. Danny if we need to change is the obvious choice.
