I agree on that, Andy. But then, perhaps there's nobody interested in TK, M'Voto etc? They are also on two year contracts earning good money. They are entitled to stay put even if we want shut of them. Such is the mindfcukery that is football.

As I understand it, Southend initially offered us a straight £50,000 in cash for Rambo, but eventually we agreed to take Regis if they gave us an extra £50,000.

I think we have a lot of players on our books who are not good enough mate, or, in the case of Wiseman, far too inconsistent to be risked as a permanent solution for right back. He can be very good, but he can also, and quite often is, very bad. He costs us goals and games and it happens too often.

If PNE were interested in Wiseman and he expressed a desire to play for them, I would have tried to get as much money as possible for him, including sell-on fees, appearance fees and anything else I could think of. If, after protracted negotiations, it became obvious that the most they were willing to offer was nothing, I would have still taken it because it would get him off the wage bill. The same is true of Dawson, Perkins, Etuhu, Kennedy, Jones, Scotland (although I do like him) and Cofie. Meanwhile, I'd do my best to send back Ramage and Pedersen. Maybe they both have something, but they're not doing it for us. The rest I believe have something about them, even if they're not producing at the moment, but I would still listen to offers if we were offered proper money. For some it would have to be a decent amount of money.

The squad performed amazingly in the second half of last season, it was a joy to watch, but they did that through working much harder than the opposition. I don't think they can maintain that through an entire season, like some last season warned us they wouldn't. When the opposition work as hard as we do they beat us because many of our players aren't good enough at this level. We're still at this level, just about, we've still got a chance of staying here, so let's move out the players who aren't good enough and try to get in some that are. We may not, we may fail, but we've got to try because if we carry on with this squad relegation is a certainty.

If we'd have accepted a transfer fee and Wiseman hadn't requested a transfer we'd have had to pay his contract up, so it sounds to me that we've let Preston off without a fee so that Wiseman can negotiate up his wages and will waive the pay off from us.

It is a lot of the same players, but for whatever reason it is not working this year. We could speculate for years on why - personality changes, luck, etc

We can continue playing the same players and getting the same results (isn't that the definition of insanity?) or change things around and try something new...

    Can't agree with that TBH.

    a) It's only a short time ago that everyone was baying for blood & couldn't wait to get rid.
    b) I don't like criticizing players but he's not my type of right back/right wing back, he seems to spend so little time in the opposing half of teh pitch and even then doesn't seem to know what to do when he gets there.
    c) We must trust Danny to sort this out. He has very little money to play with and must get some to spend some.
    d) Get behind 'em

Well, when you put it like that........ ;)

As always, very well put mate. I still don't think we are a million miles away in all honesty. Dawson has been poor this season, but there is room in this team for the Dawson of last season. The rest of the names mentioned I agree are disposable. But I'm adamant that there are many many players ahead of Wiseman in the departure queue if trying to reduce the wage bill and free up room in the squad.

When he's playing well, I'd agree with you. He can look very good. I just think he has more poor games than good ones and his poor games cost us goals. We all have different opinions on players though. Best of luck to him if he does go to Preston, if he stays I hope he can show what he's capable of on a more regular basis.

It's good business that we didn't have to pay to release him.

below average player with 6 months left on his contract, who has been dropped from the championships 24th placed team, scored more own goals than assists...and you want a fee?

He's had a decent season for me, barring the last couple of games. Probably our most consistent performer. But like most of our current squad, he'll probably never achieve more than lower championship status, and therein lies the problem. We need to be bringing in players with the potential to play at the top end of the championship if we're ever going to get out of this rut.

All the best Scott. Hope you get better support at Preston than the dross you were subject to here at times.

Scott Wiseman is an honest hard working player with undoubted pace, he has tried his hand at the Championship level with us but he is clearly not up to that standard. His positional sense has continuously cost us goals and he poses no threat going forward.

To do that he will have to play better than he has done for Barnsley, Although I do realise that to some people on here the Barnsley fans are the worst in the Country!!!

Agree. We haven't let the better players go though. We've let a clown go.

More to follow with a bit of luck.

He's not honest then. He's taking good money to do a job he is incapable of.

So if you are a footballer trying your best but you're not quite good enough then you're dishonest?

    How quaint a theory

    Yet how stupid

e.g. Academy player gets told "soz mate we can't keep you on. You're just dishonest"
