I'll tell you what they should have done, they should have parked in oakwell car park, then walked up the hill, then pricks would complain that plods didn't respond in time!!!!!! I agree that parking on the pavement is a bit wrong, but a agree more with "super-tyke!" and in my opinion (and a father with 2 young boys) that if you can't see both ways's round THAT bend, you shouldn't be in charge of kids!!!! END OF!!!
RE: Eh? and then if they do anything, just borrow that photo and show it em... get away scot free everytime, if i had a car id park theya every day, until sumat got done about it, just so i could shove it in there face n see what they say... but completely agree mate, should never have had to walk around with or withowt kids, someone gets knocked over big claim!!!

I would like you to prove that with a photo.
It's not the home owners who park on the pavement.

can i just say the people who drive those vans are soco officers. they are not police tey are civilian employees. havin said that as abobby i would have given them a £30 ticket for onstruction of highway, shocking parkin
Can I just ask, why is it that vehicles can park however they want on matchdays, blocking roads and exits from the ground and yet i've never once seen a ticket issued?
I have no idea who OWNS the propertys so I will word it another way, I've seen residents vehicles parked on the pavement on various match days from practically every property on oakwell lane. The first house at the top of the street, second house, third house etc.
I'm not talking about those cars parked on the grass verge on the opposite side of the road, i mean the houses on the left (As you walk down the hill) on the same side as the police van was and I think they are on occasion in a more dangerous place too. Especially the vehicle that is often blocking the pavement outside the first house, it causes people to go out into the road in the true blind spot, ie just after the bend where cars coming downhill cannot see you. That is why I said parking on the outside of the bend is better than going a few yards downhill because if you have to step out on to the road anywhere near the bend it is obviously safer to do so on the outside right on the bend where you can be seen from both directions than to do it just round the bend where the cars on your side of the road cant see you. That said I agree they shouldn't have parked anywhere near the bend in the first place and should have gone halfway down the hill, my point was just that parking right there on the bend was probably done so that you could see from both sides, not to make it unsafe.
It's a SOCO van and if I'm right... It was parked there on purpose to cover up some evidence that could have been lost. Things aren't always as they seem. Someone left a complaining note on my car when I left it on double yellows in Hillsborough (no where else to park) when I had been called to a burglary and was off chasing them. Would they do the same for a fire engine? Sorry you felt you were placed in danger but there are often other reasons for stuff. And to play the 'all rozzers are thick' card as some have on here is a bit insulting, some of us do take a pride in our job and try to help the good folk of Barnsley, despite getting grief for trying to do so. And no I don't want a medal, any thanks or anything else, because yes, I understand that you do pay my wages (as well as me paying my own! )
Roll on Tuesday when we thrash the Fowls!

NO I am not my point is if you can see what is coming them its ok to walk on the road isnt it ? how do you cross a road normally? My point is if you are stood on the curb at the front of the van you can see both ways, therefore its safe to walk round the van and get back on the curb afterwards.
RE: isnt that a better place to park then slightly down the hill? Its only busy on matchdays pal- its hardly dodworth road is it?
This post is getting a bit heated - how about a picture of a ladies ass that I spotted on Fridays episode of QI?

Who thought it was a good idea to build houses there - we couldn't believe it when we used to walk that way to the game, houses perched precariously on the edge of a cliff!
The car is parked on a bend And completely blocking the footpath. The police would have plenty to say about someone else doing that.
Harsh but fair The rozzers cone off our side of the street and no cars are parked other than those on the verge / pavement near the footpath which are probably supporters cars
