Since she became MP for Stocksbridge and Penistone, she has constantly voted against the best interests of her constituents, whether it was Farming,Steel, retail, trade,social care,transport. The reward for the constituency is £26million of levelling up fund. Some of this money will be spent on a Funicular Railway, from her "close personal "friend Mark Dransfield's,Fox shopping centre, to the centre of Stocksbridge.
How will this help, especially if the Steel works go? Joe Biden has lifted the trade sanctions that Trump imposed,which means that the EU can export Steel again to the US.As the UK is no longer in the EU,we cannot export steel to the US as we don't have a Trade deal with them. UK steel firms used to export over 50% to the US,now they can't.
The UK is a Zombie country run by an incompetent elite. Yesterday's Social Care announcements, carefully hidden with all the other things that were happening in parliament and today's transport announcements, prove therr are enough fools in the world.

As someone involved in the London to Birmingham league it is a pretty big loss imo. The regeneration and jobs that have been created won’t come up here. The expansion in capacity which is key won’t happen. Whilst there may be better ways to link up transport between northern cities they won’t happen other than very token gestures.

Boris was at the start of the Huddersfield to Sheffield route today so he's now seen first hand how much it needs to improve. Makes sense that it wasn't announced in advance because plenty would have paid him a visit to ask him a few questions. The line doesn’t make any money. A better idea would be to reintroduce the connection between the Hallam & Huddersfield line just after Woolley tunnel.

The cost to reinstate that line would be staggering. Not to mention the fact that half of Brierley tunnel was pumped full of concrete to build Hemsworth Bypass - which runs the length of the old alignment for quite a few miles.

 

To be honest if your paying £3000 per year in travel then it would be well in your interest to drive . Don't know how much it costs to pass these days but once that's done as long as you buy something economical then you could save some decent money and more importantly gain some time back in your life . A small Toyota Aygo might set you back a couple of grand ( no need to buy new ) but you'd probably get to work and back for £20 .

The irony is that one of the false arguments against HS2 is that it's just a very expensive way to get between Birmingham and London more quickly. It never was, but by cancelling the eastern leg they've turned it into a WCML bypass and pretty much fulfilled their own prophecy.

The only comfort is that the eastern leg will inevitably need to be added at some point, and for a lot more money - hopefully when it is people will remember who cancelled it. And the Green Party have a lot of questions to answer as well - I'm probably exactly their target audience but I'll be giving anybody who shows up at my door before the next election a serious grilling.

 

If you live in Yorkshire and the North East today you found out what the Tories actually think of you and the answer is nothing. I'm seriously starting to believe we'd be better off trying to achieve a settlement like Scotland and gain some sort of autonomy from Westminster maybe even full independance..
