Whereas I've got righters syndrome.

    I'm always correct.

    It's people like me etc.

    There are plenty of intangibles.

A good way of looking at it would be to compare the way you felt about the club during our promotion season or even before that with how you feel about it now.

You don't have to dig too deep, just your general relationship with the club. Something's gone and I don't see any effort to get it back.

Maybe it's not fair to ask you that Allen because your age means that you were a different person then but believe me a lot of people feel that way.

The feelgood factor isn't just about winning. It's a hundred other things, not the least being a sense of belonging, a feeling that your club loves you back.

    Absolutely spot on.

Once upon a time we were all in it together. Fans, players, fdirectors.

Now, it seems to me like we are a hinderance, a nuisance. It seems to be assumed that we are the cause of the problems and are not to be engaged in any kind of meaningful dialogue. In short, we should be grateful we have a club and that's it. End of story. The big misters are sorting it and we should just keep our noses out. That is just how it seems to me. I am not for one minute stating that to be the intention of BFC or anyone connected with it.

That last sentence also explains why I feel like I do.

    No, mate.

I was but I decided I'd like to move around a bit.

I know what you mean about the chance of missing that special game but I think it's the same as the Brits getting excited about 3 or 4 sunny days every summer, our expectations are so low that we're over the moon when chucked a scrap of what we want.

Can I add a third option? A hundred different things to do with a hundred different women?

I'm sure there aren't any Allen.

Nobody is right or wrong here. We're just a bunch of people with widely varying circumstances and views.

I'm a bit alarmed at the way the poll's going. A 10% drop out rate would have been high. Maybe the evening set will change it a bit.

    RE: Expect/hope

Can I throw another word into the mix? WANTING us to win.

    Expect means presuming we will.
Hoping means doubt 'cos we might not.
WANTING means just what it says 'cos they're our team and we're behind them!

    Anybody out there agree?

I think there is a lack

of a feelgood factor about football in general. I used to get PMT ( er pre match tension) from about Thursday before a home match. In the early 80's I wouldn't sleep before we played the Sheff clubs, Roth, Hudders etc. and if we won I'd buy the Morning Telegraph, The Star in the evening (just for a slightly different report). I never knew what the players earned and I didn't care !!!

I still had that feeling about matches until we got promoted, in the prem season I finally realised that football is not a meritocracy and part of my love of the game died.

When I saw the wages bill jump from 2.5m in the prem season to 6m in the first season after relegation i started for the first time to care what the players were paid. Not because of the amounts but because of a succession of ever poorer players were being paid better money than players like Redders was in his time with the club. I'm not blaming the players, if someone offers you twice as much money you take it.

Why do I go to Oakwell ? It's just something I do, like putting on socks in the morning and brushing my teeth and driving to work. I'm a creature of habit and yes when footie is good you still get a high that you don't get elsewhere. Just the highs are less often and seem not to last as long.

Now where's that video of the promotion season gone ?

RE: Would that be the last three HOME performances?

No, I include away games too, but I'm so seriously pissed off with our lack of away form that it really does colour my judgement.
I'm sorry but for a so-called progressive club with history like ours our away form is atrocious. Can you see us winning away week after week? No, neither can I.
