It should have been staying up comfortably if the board had made the decision needed five games earlier so I've gone for skin of our teeth.
What we have to remember is we aren't adrift like 2019/20. We're 1 point behind Cardiff City. Taking it game by game and seeing where ot gets us is key. It's just a case of bettering the results of the teams around us. There's no point having targets really because they change game by game. It might be a bad year for the bottom teams. It might be a good one. You just have to look at seasons where low 40's did it. I think with Peterborough and Hull down there it will be lower this season.
We are more than capable of going on a run of 456 wins in a row. I think we will do that at some point to negate the woeful start under Schopp, and stay up, but it will be tight
Hope so SD. I thought we played ok v Derby and that squad should be fine but we can't afford anymore fallow spells.
He's currently sitting in a pub somewhere in Wales together with Barnsley Bomber, listening to Morrissey songs and reciting Sylvia Plath.
456 wins in a row would see us promoted, storm the Premier League next season, and then the Champions League the season after that.
I think the key is to ignore the League table when making an appraisal. For every win we have it restores parity in some way with last season. Already we have 2 points more than we did in 2019/20 season. A couple of win 2 lose 1 runs will drag us closer to last season's total. The biggest deciding factor will be who they appoint as next Head Coach.
100% confident that we have the players we need to stay up. It was some kind of achievement to lose 7 in a row with the talent we have. A competent and confident coach with a plan will guide us to the top half.
I agree. If you can lose seven in a row you can win seven in a row. As we proved in the 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2020/21 seasons.
Pretty much this for me too. We have to: 1) make the right appointment to keep us up this season (which may actually conflict with the longer-term aims that the Board have in terms of player development, etc) 2) support the new Head Coach in the January transfer window with appropriate signings (which also may conflict with the longer-term aims of the Board). I don't trust that we'll do either, and I wait for the Board to prove my instincts wrong on this. Regardless of outcome, it will have been one that has been entirely self-inflicted by the ownership. Poor decisions made in the summer, followed by a pointless delay (quite literally) in making the obvious decision to remove the Head Coach have led us to where we are. Survival needs a near-perfect alignment of good decision-making and the usual bit of luck on the field, but all trust that the ownership are here to act in the best interests of the football club has been eradicated by their actions to date. Spectemur agendo - judge us by our actions. Our motto has never been more appropriate.
