I think Chris Wilder fits our profile perfectly, he likes to develop a group togetherness, plays positive football, he wouldn't have to make many changes to the squad. Who cares if is a supporter of Sheffield United, he's a professional.

I'd say who we all want and who we think we're likely to have are two very different things. I'd like Wilder. It's not going to happen. So in my mind it's not even worth entertaining.

    Who I think we'll get.

If Murray is still here, I wouldn't be surprised if they took a punt on him. I'd rather they didn't. But it wouldn't surprise me.

But I think they'll look at their process from the last few appointments and look to replicate it, but within the brexit parameters. It may not be one of the top picks, but there will be coaches out there that just scrape over the threshold that we have never heard of and are available or may be willing to discuss terms.

The problem I think we have is pre season training being just about upon us, plus an absent CEO (if he was staying, with all the rumours doing the rounds, I'd have had the statement announcing Ismaels depart including a quote from Murphy). Speed is of the essence, but they need to still make sure it's the right person too. Disrupting pre season build up may not be a disaster necessarily, but certainly opportunity lost.

I've gone with Ainsworth - but it won't be him.

It's more likely to be someone who is doing well - or has recently done well - in either the Austrian Bundesliga, or the German 2. Bundesliga.

Christian Ilzer, and Frank Schmidt, are names which jump out at me.

Not a clue who’s on the radar tbh but trust the algorithm to get it right again .
Hoping every Prem club is after whoever it is in next 10 month and maybe he’ll not want to go as we’re sitting in the Prem ourselves .

How bad was Iley? I see a lot of reference to 'Iley out' but I was born in 87 so got no clue.

He got a lot of unfair stick Chris but those of us who came to the family when he was in charge look back with affection on the 'Ileyout' years. Principally because the 1978 (Clarke) revolution in Barnsley was so successful.

Indeed I thought he was called Jim Illeyout for a couple of years.

Illey wasn’t bad tbh if you examine his records he had to sell his best players ASAP and buy in cheap or free transfers yet he still managed to get us performing and contending for promotion .
The Illey out thing was a bit unfair from some fans not all fans called for it but it has become a bit of folklore in the days after .
Now Jim McSevenney is another story altogether and talk about dire football but then again he too was on a very very low budget .

    '
Ileyout' was a very familiar chant for a couple of years. I was just glad we didn't employ Arthur Cox or Alan Dicks!

Cheers for that (and @Marlon). Nice to hear about our history. I recall a strong 'Dennis out' contingent at Stockport away ('02?) which never sat well with me, after everything he'd done to get us to the Premier League and what it meant to him. Only remember it being a thing at that game though but my memory not great. Also remember a 'Fry out' moment at Peterborough away, which was funny. Possibly after we won and Mike Sheron scored a beaut. It's a shame @JLWBigLil is on holiday, he could verify all this.
