Wife’s just booked her train ticket down. I can’t go which is a shame. Hope they get massive numbers of people down there showing solidarity. The loss of life needs to stop. Finally the UN is describing both the act by Hammas and the response of Israel as war crimes. That’s what’s happening, time we started calling a spade a spade.
I did March against Iraq back in the day when there were millions on the streets and it influenced Labour not a jot so under no illusions that it will change anything but proud of those that try.
By the way in response to the OP. Poppies and Palestine

    How does it work?
Are the MP there the same as the ones that go to HoP or are they seperate?

No. each constituency in Wales has a Westminster M P and has a separate member in the Welsh Senedd. (Similar in Scotland.)

It can get a bit complicated !

e.g. - the good folk of Ynys Mon (Anglesey) voted a Tory to represent them in Westminster and a Plaid Cymru member to represent them in the Cardiff Senedd. Also representing Ynys Mon is a regional Labour member (the Regional members being elected by a system of Proportional Representation. )

There are 4 Plaid MP's in Westminster and 12 separate Plaid AS in the Senedd.

(Same with other parties Labour/Tory MP's in Westminster and separate ones in the Senedd.)

Don't think you're right mate, religion wasn't the issue in Northern Ireland and isn't the issue in Palestine, it's political. Religion is a convenient vehicle for "othering" another community. If religion didn't exist they would find something else, ie colour of skin, language or mode of transport (small boats being a great example). The Nazis picked on Jews not because of their religion but because they were generally more successful people and easy to portray as greedy and grasping when the ordinary German folk were struggling with hyper inflation. Hitler was an atheist so could have picked on any group on religious grounds.

By the way, I'm also an atheist, all religion is ballocks to me.

Sad thing is I have seen people on social media calling Palestine flags isis/hamas/terrorist flags etc. Hamas doesn't represent the Palestinian people. Obviously remembrance day needs respecting 100% but the title shouldn't be poppy or Palestine asif it's one or the other.

I have to confess to being largely ignorant of Middle Eastern affairs at the start of this a month ago, so I decided to find out as much as I can about it and the reading is somewhat uncomfortable for a British person. What's going on there is largely our fault, stemming back to WW1 and The Mandate post WW1. Prior to our involvement, Jews, Christians and Muslims coexisted in peace for hundreds of years since the days of the Crusades - again largely the British and European Christians to blame.

When Palestinians get hold of Jews they lynch them.

There are no Jews in Gaza, no Jews left in Egypt, Syria, etc. there are nearly 2 million Palestinian / Arab citizens in Israel however.

TBF, for those hundreds of years they were under the control of the Ottoman Empire - and there were occasions when force was needed to calm the situation there.

Seems like a balanced and unbiased source that…

And there’s two million Arabs in Israel, not counting the populations of Gaza and the West Bank; that is true.

It is also true that they are subjected to structural discrimination when compared to Jewish Israeli’s, struggle to get any fair political or even legal representation; and it is also true that their two million residents don’t systematically ‘lynch Jews’ or anything of the sort.

Hamas, a terrorist organisation, commit heinous acts. In the name of Palestine. But they don’t represent all of Palestine and the Arab world.

Israel commits war crimes and commits genocide, at times indiscriminately killing any Palestinian anywhere in Gaza and allowing few if any safe areas for innocent citizens. Israel has broken international law by establishing an Israeli Jewish population in the West Bank; and it has been mentioned that their methods of collective punishment contravene international human rights law. In 2012, conservative Foreign Secretary William Hague said: "Systematic, illegal Israeli settlement activity poses the most significant and live threat to the viability of the two state solution". It has continued and grown over the past decade. Israel have since voted back in a far right government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, a man who partly grew up in the USA and has a lot of backing there, who empowers Thatcheresque popular capitalism; who has opposed the Oslo Accords (Israeli/Palestinian peace treaty) since its inception, and has always been publicly lukewarm at best about Palestine even being recognised as a separate state; despite Israel only being created as a state within the old British Palestine after the war; enforced by the allied nations.

I don’t condone the terrorist attacks by Hamas. They are an abhorrent organisation. But there is absolutely no way I’m buying in to the rhetoric that Israel is merely an innocent victim of terrorism and is only exercising its right to defend itself. That’s absolute ********.

Nothing to do with the spread of an intolerant version of Islam then? I guess we can blame European Christian’s for the Jews who were expelled from the Arab world in the last 100 years can we?
