Oh look, we’ve lost five home games already. Oh look, we still haven’t beaten anyone in the top half of the table. Or looked like being able to do so… We got a great result Saturday, I gave Collins praise for how his team performed in the second half, and now we have two big home games against top half teams. These two games will tell us more about where we are.
The difference is that whenever we lose people say SACK HIM and there's 12 threads on it. When we win, people say good result let's bulld on it - they don't say KNIGHT HIM. When there's posters on here who want to sack a bloke based on who scores the next goal, then it's ridiculous. I'm not saying we're playing brilliantly and that it's free flowing attacking football. Just that anyone who wants him sacked is being so kneejerk it's unbelievable.
I’m not sure 19 league games and out of all the cups (I’ll excuse him the fa cup in fairness) is all that kneejerk. It has been pretty poor. It does seem counterintuitive to suggest a change, when as you say we are only five points from second, and sit seventh with games in hand on some of the sides above. But there is still the question as to whether the way the fixture list was drawn assisted the side a little. Is seventh a false position, and not in a good way? He got a monkey off his back, one that predated him significantly too, in winning a game coming from behind. We need to see if he can beat a top ten team now. If he can’t; we won’t finish top six. Or it is highly unlikely at least.
Keep an eye on Peterborough. They've not dropped many points since the start of September and are seemingly going under the radar a bit. Scoring for fun and not reliant on 1 main attacking option like they were last season.
Well what would you call it then, one place and two points outside the top 5, at this stage of the season ?. Anybody would think that we're in Reading's position if they read some of this stuff.
