Whereas it's really vibrant when folk are desperately wanting to moan about anything and everything...... ...
I disagree. It’s definitely at its best when the club shills are all starting new threads employing whataboutery to make their point known. We’re only a few minutes away from the “Should Unai Emery be sacked?” thread. And it’s always a new thread.
Are we seriously comparing Chesterfield, who’d likely be sitting top six in league two and would hold their own in league one with the squad they have, with Horsham? I wouldn’t even class it as a shock that they’ve beaten Portsmouth. For Portsmouth, the result is nothing like as bad as ours was. I doubt they’ll be too gutted to be out of the cup. We aren’t out (and will likely progress you’d imagine), but we have a long arsed midweek trip to more or less the south coast to contend with, to be followed by a tie away in London that we’d be favourites in but isn’t a foregone conclusion. Meanwhile Portsmouth have that midweek off and probably the weekend of the second round aswell.
Realism always sits well on the BBS its the over the top rants about Khaled, the grass, the sprinklers, non league signings etc. By the way the "rubbish"we signed in the summer aren't doing too bad are they?
I knew a post like this would be created. I don't care about Portsmouth, I don't care whether they lost 15-0! I care about Barnsley. I care about what Barnsley do. Trying to justify what happened on Friday because another team got beat by lesser opposition is laughable. It's like sh*tting yourself at work, and justifying it by saying "well so-and-so sh*t themselves twice last week!" - you still did it. What someone else did is irrelevant.
Jinxed it. 2-2, Hourihane. Could've been coming into our game having been dumped out the cup by a L2 side but Crewe have bottled it at the last.
To be fair only one of the non league signings has made an impact and it’s a crime that he’s (Shepherd) being denied more game time. Khaled is a very poor CEO, I can’t see how anyone can say otherwise. I’m very happy with where we sit in the league but not convinced we’ll maintain it. I hope I’m wrong, I’ll be very happy if we do. Derby away on Saturday will be a good indicator. As for a 3-3 draw at home to a mid table seventh tier side, I’d say that deserves criticism. We treated the game badly both on and off the field and it bit us on the backside. We now face an unnecessary mid week journey of 200 plus miles for a replay that we should never have had.
I like Khaled. He came into the club and took on a mountain of problems. It seems now everything that happens at Oakwell especially things he has no control over he gets the blame which for me is wrong and unfair. I am a little concverned about his silence at the minute,I get the impression somethings happening behind the scenes.I'll wait and see whats happening before speculate.
I agree that our performance on Friday deserves criticism, particularly the defending for their goals. Also, if some of our finishing was better at times we’d have won comfortably. I just think there’s some OTT moaning as well. particularly the serial moaners on here. I’m not always happy with our performances and often would love to see us move the ball quicker in many of our build-ups. However, I feel there is good reason for optimism balanced with realism. Fans will always rate or not rate a certain player/s that’s football and opinions for you. There will always be good, bad and indifferent games but I see no reason for the constant negativity of our team by some
**** me, are we still doing “I’m a better fan than you” threads?? Had Barnsley gone 25 games unbeaten, playing really well, top of the league with a nice cushion to 3rd place and going from strength to strength, and then lose away at a professional team, top of the Conference, who’ve only lost one game this season, with a great ground/fanbase and, let’s face it, who shouldn’t really be in the Conference, I suspect they’d be cut a bit of slack. Barnsley haven’t gone 25 games unbeaten, we haven’t been playing really well, we’re not top of the league, we’re not going from strength to strength. Horsham are not a professional club, they’re not top of the Conference…do I really need to finish this??
We definitely need to shift the ball quicker. That’s why we’re struggling badly at home. When we hit form last season we’d started getting the ball into the forward areas much quicker. Hopefully a fully fit Luca will make a difference. Don’t think we’ll see him start a league game for at least a couple of weeks yet though.
