That is very true! I suppose I can’t have it all. At least he supports me in my madness even if he refuses to take any interest. I can’t believe it’s been that long either, although if I think about it, it is kind of hard to remember a time when we weren’t together. Uni was the best experience of my life, hands down. I was so shy and so worried about doing anything to stand out from a crowd before going. I actually dread to think what I’d have been like had I stayed in Grimethorpe all my life. It completely changed who I am.
This is a complete change of subject, but I did the 75 mile Barnsley Boundary Walk from Friday last week to this Wednesday. Part of the route skirts Grimethorpe. Truly stunning scenery. We Barnsley people should be proud of the walk, it's a magnificent advertisement for the superb countryside that surrounds our town. I'll try and find a couple of photos......
Better than this season's Rotherham and Leeds looking shirts. £48 is a rip off though and would be even in the premier league nevermind third tier. It was only a few seasons back it was £40 and it's only been £45 a few minutes so it'd a twenty plus percent price increase in just a few years.
That was the only thing I struggled with about moving into a city. When looking for my second year house and anywhere since, I’ve always had to make sure there are green spaces or at least plenty of trees nearby. It used to get me a bit depressed when going home and then coming back on the train and seeing all the grey buildings packed against each other.
As nice as the two of you are I'd be need a time travel machine to do that and I'd be scared of going back a few days too far and being eaten by a triceratops.
And we wouldn't have you any other way would we. Although in answer to what you'd have been had you stayed in Grimethorpe I'm sure you'd have turned out ok. You are a classy lady so probably would have 4 kids to only 3 dad's instead of the usual 4 dad's.
I had a feeling I'd chosen a dinosaur that didn't eat people but I'm far too lazy to check and make sure I got the right one
The first day was Cawthorne to Shafton, 15 miles. Day 2 was Shafton to Goldthorpe, 9 miles via Brierley, Grimethorpe and Thurnscoe. Day 3 was 12 miles to Tankersley via Bolton, Wombwell and Elsecar. The only hint of danger was an encounter with a grizzly bear in a jungle near Thurnscoe, then we saw a crocodile in a pond just outside Bolton.
No, we chose the walk because it was an ideal semi-lockdown walk. We used 2 cars (2 of us and a dog) so we could return home every night. Usually I do a mixture of camping and pubs/B & Bs, but no need this time as just about everywhere on the walk is within 10 miles of home. Highly recommended.
