    I'd very much hope that our efforts so far are restricted to profiling and categorising key targets in varying positions ahead of a new head coach/manager coming in through the door.

    Whoever it is I'd suspect they'd have minimal say on who stays, unless we generate significant incoming fees, purely because we need to stabilise and finance is the most important factor at this immediate moment.

    I think the club should have a policy of not buying/loaning any players aged 23 and under.

    I don't think the club should have any set policy of who they can and can't sign based on age, and recruit based on what is needed.

    If this is someone signing to play for the u23s, after a trial. Doesn't seem particularly newsworthy. Guessing likes of Thompson and Miller will be released, with Marsh elevated to the first team squad.

    Why i remeber us loaning harvey barnes at 19 he was a cracking player. Ashley fletcher aswell was 19 at the time...
    I think we should adopt a policy of signing players who are good footballers at the level we will be playing at, with good attitudes, who want to play for us and arent lazy and always injured.

    We have had this debate pver many years on the BBS and this season has seen it come to its zenith. Sure, there maybe good young players out there,there may not. The club bought a lot of young players who were not good enough. Other clubs of a similar size have a different policy and had a reasonable season.
    My point about loan players is that we develop them for their parent clubs and they never belong to the club. When they leave it means another team rebuilding.
    At Barnsley, the team strength has been weakened season on season, but not keeping experienced players and by increasing the number of young players.

    Not really sure i agree with a policy of only signing player over 23 either. Every signing is a gamble look at lita, treacy, mido, frimpong, turnbull matt mills etc etc all bags of experience picked up big wages but massive flops. Our biggest waste of snap this season the experienced oulare at 26 on 7k a week for 3 years. Truth is every signing is a gamble when we start assembling a side to win games of football rather then sell for profit we will move forward weather they are 23 33 or 43. The way forward would be youth mixed with experience Our squad has got weaker as we replaced sold players with poorer players and adopted the scatter gun approach.
