The last time we did this I said Hourihane but since then I've changed my mind and will be voting for Watkins.
Hourihane, Winnall and Watkins. But can understand the nods for Mawson and Hammill. I'd go Hourihane at this stage.
Last year Conor deserved it but there was some strong competition. This year he should be miles ahead. Some have been hit and miss, others like Roberts in and our of the team or gone off the boil recently. Conor even in a quiet game like against Fleetwood can still influence us picking up three points by setting up both goals. Only lost two games with him as captain and only one in 2016. Trying to get him to extend his contract by another couple of years on top of the year he's got left should be the number one priority of the summer.
I think there's only 2 contenders. Hourihane & Hammill. I just give the edge towards Hourihane because he's been here the full season. Winnall spent too long been played as a lone striker (no fault of his own) to come under consideration for me. Him or Watkins for 3rd. Don't get the calls for Mawson. Good since Christmas but he was pretty poor for a couple of months
Roberts for me. Has hardly put a foot (or head) wrong in every game he's played. Not his fault the previous manager preferred Nyatanga for a while. Best young player for me is George Williams - has he had anything other than a good game?
Marley for me. Never complained even when out of position, always puts in 100% and has improved all year and is now a very important part of the team. We play better when he's there because his energy and work rate rubs off on everyone else. He is massively under rated and i've liked the lad since day 1 so maybe a bit of bias. I'm just really glad he's proved me right and a few are now mentioning him. If we go up then they all deserve an individual medal for the incredible turnaround and putting smiles on all our faces over the last few months.
Given the way Hammill has turned our season round how can it be anyone else That been said watkins hourihane mawson and Roberts have all been excellent
game changing. no doubt about it. but he's not played enough games for me. i don't think mawson has missed a league game so far, has he? plus he's been brilliant for the club off the field, as well.
Agree there are several contenders but over a full season I would have to say Mawson. He's had different partners in Nyatanga, Long and now Roberts but been a rock throughout.
