Tonight, Ron from Barnsley called to moan that he's had a season ticket for centuries and been unsuccessful in ballot, and some 1st timers had same chance of a ticket as him?
Bet he's a poster on here. I couldn't justify buying a season ticket this season knowing we'd likely not get in to any games, but i had one last year and I've bought one for next year. Some serious sour grapes on here whether it's about why "better" fans didn't get tickets, the wording of the email they got, how the seating rules have ruined it for everyone. Our team is in the bloody play offs. Not the league one play offs. The Championship playoffs, hoping to get promoted to the Premier League against all the odds. There's been some really positive vobes on here for the last 6 months. Let's try and keep them going and support the lads over the line and not turn on each other at this vital time. You reds.
I can't see why anyone can moan about the way the ballot was run. My dad started watching Barnsley in 1936 and went to almost every home match till about 2000 when he became too frail to get on a bus (he couldn't drive and never had a car). In all that time he never had a season ticket and because of all the glory hunters, he never got to see Barnsley play in the Premier League. I can't remember him bellyaching about it.
I think we need to cut people some slack about comments made about the ballot. It's disappointment, extreme disappointment talking. I'm sure that many people have really missed not being at Oakwell for over a year, particularly given the success of the team and so like me, attached a lot of importance to going back on Monday. For me at least it was somehow symbolic of starting to return to normal and that's been postponed for another two or three months. People are emotional about it and emotion is often the enemy of rational thinking and logic. Be kind and sympathise with everyone who is disappointed. Logic will return as the feelings subside. And for the lucky ones who will be there, enjoy it and represent 3 or 4 others who can't be.
