Speaks volumes for our ambitions though doesn't it? With Hourihane etc their contracts were due to expire in the summer, not the case with Potts. Sacrifice promotion for a few bucks.. 1.5million is nowt in football nowadays.

It's undisclosed we just know it's more than 1.5million as Preston have broke their transfer record which was 1.5million previously. So could be anything above that.

Could be £2.5 million. Could buy a few more Brad Potts for that.

So he cost us one million? 18 months of wages? His and his agents fees for joining us? Blackpool probably have 15% or so? If he's not sold at a loss PNE must have significantly broke their record.

True but if the plan is just go get another lower league player who will possibly take a year to 18 month's to be as good it gives me no comfort how much money the club has in the bank.

There’s no such thing as ‘good business’ selling a regular first team starter in January.

If it’s back in July & the replacement has a month to gel with his team mates then fair enough but it’s not.

We could get lucky & a replacement hits the ground running straight away but it’s still pretty shambolic losing a key player mid-season again.

It seems the only way we’ll ever get promoted is by been bottom in December as otherwise we’ll just flog anyone we get a half decent offer

Let's face it we aren't going to splash 2.5 million on a championship player and pay him 15k a week.

**** decision. Probably our most important player. Unless it’s all invested it’s an utterly ridiculous decision. Still it’s early days in the window let’s wait and see.

Like him or not he was a first team regular that Stendel obviously rated highly . The worrying thing is how quick its happened .

Clearly not because if we were it would have been easier to keep Potts.

£2 million we can use on player salaries that we can offset against FFP.

He's been an average player for me and somehow managed to get game time no matter how poor he sometimes was. Had speed once he got going but far too slow when receiving it which meant by the time he'd decided what to do the ball had gone. He wasn't the best at decision making either when going forward but he's not the only one. I wish him all the best and if we have made 2 million it's good business and we've lifted Preston's leg. He's between average and good for League 1 but deffo got caught out when we were in the Championship so it'll be interesting to see what happens

I think I'm right in saying I was one of just a few on here who defended Potts when he first came to Oakwell....I just didn't see he was as bad as some were making out, however I don't think he's as good as some are suggesting now that we've sold him....if it's over
£1.5m then it's not too bad imo.

    Fed up

    Same same old.

    Club has no ambition.

Will we see Sunderland or Pompey sell their best players? I very much doubt it!

Didn’t he finish 2nd in the player of the vote last season behind McBurnie (obviously)? I thought Brad struggled at the beginning of the season last year but really came into it in the second half of the season and played well for us.

I think he’ll do well for Preston.

I would hope the fee is more than £1.5 million.

If we start holding players feet to the fire when irresistible offers come in for them that benefits both parties there’s one or two of our future targets will have second thoughts .
Potts was a catch from Blackpool for a number of clubs he came here because of the potential of his development into a better player to secure his future in the game and if he feels its with PNE well good luck to him imo .NEXT!!!!
