    Every team has a price mate if million pound offers aren’t going to Portsmouth they probably aren’t interested in their players imo .
    Sunderland a bit different they on rollover or whatever it’s called .

    One thing that is instructive to me about our approach - Preston have signed three players this window:-

    1) Ginnelly from mighty Walsall - Walsall - You can only have him when we have signed and announced his replacement.
    2) Stockley from giants Exeter - Exeter - You can only have him when we have signed and announced his replacement
    3) Potts from Barnsley - Barnsley - Yep, take him as quick as you like we don't give a toss about announcing his replacement to our fans before he goes

    More important than Moore, Woodrow, Mowatt and Dougal mate? Surely not!

    I agree it seems daft to sell at this stage of season can only imagine the deal was too good to turn down. If it is say 2.5million for a player who has serious limitations, then that has to be decent business?

    Don’t get me wrong I like Potts, he tries hard, has good energy, chips in with goals but I’m not sure if he will ever be a good quality championship player - he isn’t good enough technically on the ball.

    Do your business in the summer no problem sell players I dont have an issue with it thats football.

    What I have a issue with is us year in year out selling key players in the January window instead of having some ambition.

    The rumours were circulating an hour before he signed and just this once with the new owners I thought maybe we wont so easily but we have again.

    How can we ever progress selling key players to the first person who comes knocking?

    To me when he plays well we play well. I’m not equating most important to ‘best’ We will
    see what happens. He isn’t irreplaceable for the reasons you quote but will be a big miss.

    If we had someone lined up it would have been announced before selling Potts.

    If its still not a done deal Potts shouldent have been either.
