Based on what? He has hardly thrown a punch in anger over the last few years and made all the excuses in the world after Klitch did him. I'm not saying he can't beat Fury, but he's not the shoe-in for victory that most insist. I believe Tyson will do special things. The heavy division is there for the taking.
His nephew is a better fighter. I do think Haye would beat Tyson, I'm still not convinced he is gonna be any good at the top level. Wilder will clean up once the Klits are gone.
Let's hope we get to find out. But I remember a lot of people on here telling me Price was the better boxer. Looks a bit silly now. I think Tyson has far more to lose than Haye in this potential fight, so if he takes it on and wins, it's time he got the respect he'd deserve.
Wilder? Really? Yes he's got the unblemished record of 28 wins all by KO but he's never been in the ring with a contender. I mean why the hell was someone with a 27 KO record taking a fight with Audley Harrison anyway? His next opponent has been in the ring with one or two big hitters, so is his toughest test yet. Only 6 fights in the last 6 years and lost 4 of them! If this guy lifts a world title, I give in. The only knockout blow that would entail, would be to the already-fragile credibility of the current heavyweight division.
Wilder looks the best of a very average bunch to me. Who's gonna beat him once the klits aren't around?
Wilder was really impressive with his clubbing lefts and rights against Fraudley ...... (detect the sarcasm). Wilder is as poor as they come and doesn't have a chin. He'll be found out as soon as he steps up.
So Tyson Fury, who was nearly knocked out by a Cruiserweight and had to resort to illegal tactics to get the job done, would do Thompson in two rounds? The same Thompson that went 11 rounds and 6 rounds with Klitschko? You're doing Haye a disservice here mate. The guy is a seriously talented boxer and a legitimate contender. For all the 'broken toe' nonsense Klitschko didn't overwhelm him the way people will have you believe. Yes he lost, but not in disgrace.
What makes you think he'd do Thompson in 2 rounds? Thompson's a top 10 H/W, as things stand Fury's not beaten any fighters as good as Thompson & has gone life & death with the likes of Cunningham who's barely top 20 & Firtha & Pajkic who are barely top 40. He's been badly rocked / dropped by all 3 of them & none of them are big punchers, can't help thinking the minute he steps up to fight a top fighter he'll get stopped like Price has been.
What he said! Price has been rushed through and completely missed out European level. Should have been fighting someone like Dimitrenko (or however it's spelt) rather than a quality contender like Thompson. I personally think Price will come back from this a better fighter by dropping down a level or two.
Agree Wilder is average that's why I said best of a bad bunch. But that is the problem in HW, except for 3 (who will all retire soon) the whole division is distinctly average.
I still think Price could make it - talk about a badly managed step up. Less than three rounds against 40+ year old poor British fighters is not preparation for going in against someone who fought Klitschko twice. I said it in a previous post, but he needed to continue building slowly but his team believed the hype too quickly. He should take himself over to the States and base himself with Lewis for 12 months and fight 4/5 times in the next 12 months. To be fair to him, he didn't really go down from all those punches he took on Saturday, just completely gassed out.
