rhcp did not rip this song off, obviously if you are a musician and you know a little thing called CHORD PROGGRESSION then you would understand that they didnt do it on
    purpose.

This song is Am,G,D,Am while chillis are Am,Gm,G,D,Dm,Am thats only three bloody chords, most songs are only three chords, so this is a pretty standard way of writting
songs, and they just happened to have a similar tempo too.

Also Tom Petty told rolling stone magazine that it was just a coincidence and he never even tried to sue them.

So dont even start on The Chili's. Anyone who thinks they are "talentless" really needs to listen to their "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" album cos it is a masterpiece.

Isn't all music derivative to a greater or lesser extent?

eg Radiohead - Creep. Certainly not talentless pile of *****, but "copied" the Air that I Breathe to the extent that the writers of the latter get a songwriting credit

It's not just the chords themselves, the strumming pattern is identical. Nicely copied response from the Youtube comments though.

Also, I didn't say they were talentless, just that I personally can't stand them. I saw them at Leeds festival, and they decided to **** their instruments off for ages like jazz odyssey in This is Spinal Tap. And everyone knows that you do not perform a 15 minute freeform jazz exploration in front of a festival crowd

RE: Three notes as far as I can tell. Hope he doesn't blow too much on lawyers. nt

while we all agree that Don is an expert on football, boxing, t-shirts and loads of other stuff surely it cannot be denied that Joe Satriani knows slightly more about the technical side of creating music

Here's a clue - it's called the Viva la Vida tour............

    :D

It's the title song on their new album, which is what they're touring to promote. They really were ace. My wife wouldn't go as she thinks they are dull so I took my 14 year old daughter.

Be careful, though. One date at Wembley has sold out, with Jay Z supporting. They've added a second date there with support..............Girls Aloud! Bit of a difference.

    Their music?

Sorry, each to their own. Squabbling about music is daft. You like what you like, end of.

Coldplay are 1 of very few acts around today who make decent music. Better than most tripe in the charts. All that manufactured stuff! Load of old tosh.

    RE: Their music?

    Same as footy, Jay.
Da Silva = Coldplay. Touch of class mixed in with the odd mediocrity.
Van Homoet = Dollar. Pile of absolute cack.
KO = Kylie. You just want to get one in but you know it'll never happen!!!
