So if someone has posted that they don't believe people mixing in large numbers during a global pandemic and worrying for the welfare of a defenceless animal they are now a racist?

    Lost for words...

Aye, about perfect for the idiots who chuck the r word about without appreciating what it actually means. I could have saved pompey a lot of typing - all you needed to have put in your daft puzzle is ‘if you don’t agree with us then you must be racist’ Simples. Perhaps you could explain why objecting to mass gatherings during a global pandemic involving a deadly infectious disease is racist ? Or how breaking into peoples businesses and looting them, potentially ruining their owners is racist ? Or how objecting to idiots lobbing stuff at a defenseless animal causing it to panic resulting in a collapsed lung for its rider is racist ?? Grow the fk up.

Wouldn't surprise me if that someone was also all for the grand national and hadn't attended an online protest either. If they have then of course the bingo cards would be wrong,

I don't believe that there should be protests at the minute. I don't think they can be properly socially distanced. At any other time than during this pandemic I'd be fully behind them.
I do understand the motivation of people who ARE protesting far more than the idiots flocking to beaches to sit cheek by jowl swilling beer and ice cream.
I don't agree with rioting or damage to property during the protests.
I don't agree with attacks on the police during the protests.
I don't agree with attacking police horses.

I DO think that there are people, including some on here, who use the above transgressions by protesters to further their own casual racism. They will find any excuse to avoid addressing the problem of racism.
Racism IS an accusation thrown around too readily. But sometimes the cap fits.

    Ok.
    Education. Education. Education.
There needs to be more of an emphasis on teaching people to be decent human beings rather than jumping through examination hoops and achieving sats results every year.
There needs to be a serious effort by government to address the areas of real poverty. From poverty and lack of opportunity comes crime. There are studies that show that curing the poverty issue disproportionately reduce crime. I don't know how reliable they are but it needs more research. It may well be that every ten quid spent giving someone a home is better than ten quid spent on riot gear and tear gas.
Introduce meaningful and in depth oversight of police forces. Independent oversight that roots out bad apples early before they even get the chance to baton someone repeatedly in the head.
We've seen in the UK at Orgreave, Hillsborough, outside football grounds that some police are out of control both on the front line and at the command level.
We need the police but we need police who are 100 percent there to serve and protect.
There's a myriad of things but I'd be typing all day.
I do know the way to do it is not to blame it all on the people whose necks are under the knee.

Just been watching Breakfast news and talk of changing the history curriculum to include more reference to black history in this country. For me, I'd love more " working class" history taught as well as more local history to bring more relevance to the pupils

I'll put forward a solution to racism.

    Don't be racist.

    See. It's easy.

Pick your knuckles up off the floor and stop judging people by the colour of their skin.

Don't whatabout it by using Lee Rigby or whatever you want to talk about. Don't complain about mass gatherings when you didn't give a flying **** about all them that went to the beach because 'lockdown is basically over'. Don't preach about your love of police horses when that wouldn't have happened if said copper hadn't charged the crowd. Don't moan about a statue being toppled when it's of a bloke who made his fortune in the Slave Trade. Don't slate Anthony Joshua whilst hoping Tyson Fury knocks him out - that pillar of society Tyson Fury. Ah, sorry. He's white. I forget.

Do not judge people by the colour of their skin.

    It's really, really easy.

Totally disagree. just because you are against violent protests doesn't mean you are a racist. Being prejudice or discriminating against someone of a different race is being racist.

I am not against the violent protests because of the cause they are fighting for. I am against the rioting, looting, violence to horses and police because I believe that is not the way to fight your cause. I would have the exact same stance regardless of the cause they were protesting for.

I would also add to this, don't normalise or excuse the behaviour of racists. Don't vote for racists or racist agendas.

I remember our history teacher packing us into the school minibus and taking us to Elsecar, Joseph Locke’s statue and Silkstone when we were studying the industrial revolution. At Silkstone he showed us the remains of old bell pits before taking us to the disaster memorial in the church yard. A lot depends on the quality of the teacher and wether they can bring the curriculum to life as he did. We did learn about the slave trade but very little, also the British Empire, I’m ashamed at the treatment the upper classes of our country doled out back in those days and the prejudices that have been brought forward to modern times. You’d hope that we’d be more enlightened as civilization has progressed.

You've pretty much word for word typed what I was going to, thank you for saving me the effort.

Unbelievably, it is possible to feel sorry for the horses, condemn the few who are choosing to destroy other peoples livelihoods by looting in the name of BLM, disagree with grafiting war memorials AND want equality for black lives.

I fully understand why protests are taking place - people are desperate enough to do it despite the risks posed to them and others, which should tell you how important the cause is. I don't agree with calling every person who questions any aspect of it a racist. If that makes me an undercover racist then so be it.

    What is wrong with people?

If you disagree with the fact that people are running round looting smashing up shops pulling down and defacing monuments you must either be a racist or a ‘casual racist’.

I've said my piece for today - I think it's time to check out of this thread before I say something I'll regret.

But before I go, can I just say please stop judging people by the colour of their skin.

    Thank you.

Have a good day boys and girls.
